Thanks folks. What's the most I'd be looking at without a tune and what would it take? I'm just kind of leery about having a tune done..

Without a tune you'll make whatever your car makes on the dyno stock. No mods can be done without a tune- no headers, no CAI (none that make any measurable HP at least), etc. Just a catback really. You have no chance at making additional HP without a tune.

Even if you get headers, CAI and tune, the most people are making is 440-450hp at the wheels. I don't know of any other mods you can do for naturally aspirated to get it to 500hp honestly. There's a limit to HP without going supercharger/turbo.

There's no such thing as even a 400hp at the wheels S550 without potentially voiding a warranty if that is what you are worried about. any of the mods to get above that will risk your warranty and must use a tune.

^Gotcha. Love the input. What would a supercharger entail..?

Depends on which you choose but installs are pretty straight forward. Generally, if you can do a full brake job, you can install a blower. Just lots of small steps and must ensure you complete each one ask me how I know this haha).

Roush is probably the most involved. Whipple next followed by procharger and vortech a little easier but they all about what for what really.

Open hood, remove intake (one the PD'S). Take apart front of motor. Install drive system. Install intercooler and pump/reservoir of required and wiring. Install blower. Make up hoses. Return and go for a ride.

Better yet, call Livernois.

22hp with a tune, but the real difference is how the car drives ALL AROUND!

I made 445 to the wheel with jlt cai, Gibson cat back, stainless works headers and the Livernois tune. Simple proven combination
Is your car a stick? I would love to know what it will do in the 1/4.

Judging by your OP I'm not surprised you don't know what a supercharger is... save us all and Google it. No worries on the thread topic because you might be one of the first expecting to get 500 without a tune

If you want specific information on a supercharger visit the threads in the Forced Induction area and read!

I want to stick with N/A myself. I'll still tune it when I pick a CAI (probably Airaid) There are other ways to get HP to the rear wheels, though. A one piece drive shaft is not as parasitic with HP as the stock unit. I'm also interested in the FRPP throttle bodies, when they become available. All we're doing is letting it breathe and poop as efficiently as it can. Even a tune doesn't rely on dark wizardry to pick up a few horsepower, it just nudges the power band a little more up into fun country. All it requires is a commitment to run premium gas.

In a word...Nope! You'd be hard pressed to get 500 at the crank. Goog rule of thumb is about 14% perisitic loss from crank to rear wheels. So you would need about 580 HP at the crank to get 500 HP to the wheels.

Not saying I don't know what it is. Just asking what having one would entail as far as details. I never put one one any prior vehicle. Seeing as how I didn't know, the best thing I could do is ask (and not expect to get flamed for it)..

500whp N/A would most likely require you to change cams(that's four total), valves/springs, throttle body(very minimal if any gains), ported stock intake with full exhaust and some form of aftermarket CAI. That much invested is well over $5,000 which can also be spent towards a tuner Paxton/Vortech package and be in the 600-650whp range with tune only.
