Wrong. If a cop wants to pull you over for tint, they'll pull you over if its 20%, 35%.

If I'm still going to get a ticket for tint, I sure as hell don't want to pay the extra cost and still have people seeing me in my car at stop lights.

35% tint looks like unfinished business to me.

Have put 5% on all my cars and never been pulled over for tint and only had one ticket for tint.

Here in illinois if I can't see you through your window im pulling you over and giving you a ticket. And then you will have to pay to get it removed on top of the citation I give you . It's a safety issue for cops . 20% il let you slide but under that is just dumb . Legal limit is 35 here so that's what I stick with.

Exactly what I was saying. Not all cops are going to be by the book and pull someone over cause their front windows are tinted (some will, and here in CA it's technically illegal to have lower than 70%) but, having limo's in the front is just pure stupidity imho. It's not even about having the darkest tint, because anybody can do dark.

Imo, its about the tint that has the most benefits.

I hate when people have that obvious illegal find and pull up next to me and roll down their windows like I didn't see . This is while I'm in my squad if your tint is asking for attention il be more then happy to give it to you. If it's nice and not ghetto no issues .

its a saftey issue when someone doesnt understand they need to roll their windows down when theyre pulled over and have a cop approaching their window.

here in california.. you cant have any shade of tint on your front passenger windows. makes no difference if its 20% or 5%

I've had 5 percent a lonnnngg time ago. I felt like a thug wanna be. It looked stupid as hell. Plus I ended up getting ticketed for it while getting stopped at "public safety checkpoints".
I've always stuck with 20 percent. Having it on a darker color with a dark interior makes it not look as dark as it really is.

Here in WI it's 50% transmittance front 35% rear. No windscreen tint. My general guideline is, if I can't tell male from female or general age of the driver you're getting stopped. Of course not always, just whenever I am fortunate to have time between calls. Tint is an easy pc stop that leads to drugs, guns, and other nefarious activity, I am still surprised people "mopes" go limo black.

In the UK, whilst being pulled over is a pain, it's more the insurance that would be the main worry. If you've made any mods you haven't told them about or have anything in any way illegal (e.g. 5% tints), they can void your policy and wont pay out if you need to claim. Wouldn't this also be the case in the US?

There was an article recently where the insurance compnay got shirty over a few "jesus" stickers on a car: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-south-west-wales-31064998

Kinda off topic but do you guys have to take your cars for vehicle safety inspections? Every time I've been to England the vehicles seem like they are in WAAAAY better mechanical condition the some of the rolling death traps here in the US. Even in the crappier parts of London the vehicles seemed respectable. Besides a dinged bumper or two none of the cars seemed like they were ready to exploded at any moment. Thanks

Yes, after the car is 3 years old, you need a test every 12 months.

The only time insurance companies in the U.S. won't pay out is if you get in an accident while you're drunk.

Now, they won't insure the value of your modifications -- so, if you have $5K in engine upgrades, and you total your car, they're only going to pay the value of the base car, not the upgrades.
