Nobody I know over the age of 20 has illegal tints because they will absolutely get pulled over.

Kinda off topic but do you guys have to take your cars for vehicle safety inspections? Every time I've been to England the vehicles seem like they are in WAAAAY better mechanical condition the some of the rolling death traps here in the US. Even in the crappier parts of London the vehicles seemed respectable. Besides a dinged bumper or two none of the cars seemed like they were ready to exploded at any moment. Thanks
And in most places in the U.S. you have to do that too. In NY we have to pass brakes / tires / lights / emissions / a few other things inspections every 12 months.

EDIT: Here's what has to be checked every 12 months in New York:

Thanks you. I wish we had similar laws here.
I know you are going to be biased because you're a cop, but you obviously know that cops pull people over for BS things i.e. meet quotas and such and you want more regulation for people?

Very cool I was unaware of that local law. Most people go about there day and never really see all the horribly unsafe vehicles that are on our roadways.

I can't speak as to the practices in other states but quotas are illegal here. Do departments set a minimum ticket quota for their officer? I'm sure some do. Tickets are often a feeler as to how active an officer is. A cop with low ticket counts either works lots of calls or is sitting on his butt. Some departments knit pick transportation codes but in my experience I can get loads of traffic stops without going to the "bs" reasons.

I support mechanical safety checks because WI allows some of the most broke ass jalopy cars to drive it's streets. It's funny how people always blame their brakes or steering when they crash. If there is an ounce of truth to their excuses the car shouldn't be on the road then. Take a stroll through FL and look at the dangerous cars they allow to drive, it's mental.

Here in WI it's 50% transmittance front 35% rear. No windscreen tint. My general guideline is, if I can't tell male from female or general age of the driver you're getting stopped. Of course not always, just whenever I am fortunate to have time between calls. Tint is an easy pc stop that leads to drugs, guns, and other nefarious activity, I am still surprised people "mopes" go limo black.
I'm surprised you waste peoples time because of their window tint. Maybe you should be looking for something a little more important..

The premise that tint in and of itself leads to other nefarious activity is wrong. It could, sure.. but so could pulling over every car that's orange and has out of state plates? There's no connection there other than a prick cop wasting peoples time.

If you're willing to violate one law so brazenly, it's more likely that you're willing to violate others circumspectly.

Exactly Don't like being harassed by cops, obey the freaking law. Don't come on here and bitch because cops do their job and pull people over for breaking the law. 5% is just stupid there is a reason it is illegal it endangers yourself and others. Life is not about you and your opinion of what is important for cops to look for. Perfect example I have first hand had some idiot tint his windows to 15% and couldn't see the motorcycle coming and hit and killed him and that man is in jail for manslaughter because he willingly disregarded the law. Hopefully it doesn't take that to make you realize we have laws for a reason not just to ruin your "sweet tint".:frusty:

For me when I'm on patrol I never look for tiny who ever if I'm at a light and someone has the balls to pull up next to me with blacked out tint everywhere your stupidity has just got you a meeting with me. Some times people are just dumb and think they can do what ever they want. Now if I see 20 percent and there front windshield has nothing I drive right by .

Ok, all arguing aside, I got it done today. Used CXT, a ceramic tint I think, (the one that blocks uv Rays but doesn't mess with signal, lol) I did 20 percent all the way around and a five inch strip on my windshield. Looks awesome with the black wheels. I paid 290 flat for the job, and I've used these guys on a few other cars I've owned, they do top notch work.
I don't drive the car daily, so I'm not too concerned with the police. I don't drive like an idiot either, so I think ill be ok.

Did they remove the UAW sticker? That's one of my main concerns whenever I think about getting a tint; there's no way I'm ever removing that.
