It is part of MSRP. Here is the item.
Good point but some manufacturers like to "hide" it. Often times they will say $XX.XXX MSRP* (notice that asterisk) Then down in the fine print it will read *MSRP excludes $995 destination fee. Nice that Ford is up front about it at least in this case. As they should be their $825 undercuts GMs $995 by a good amount and Camaros aren't traveling any farther than Mustangs are.

Manufacturers love to play these hide it games. Destination is paid on every car plain and simple.

Thanks for sharing. :)

I know it's paid.. That's not the point. It costs 5 dollars to deliver someone from Best Buy let's say.. I don't consider it part of the price of the product, but obviously it's part of my overall cost.

Ask Pill.. He doesn't like to count fluids when talking about Mustang weight.. Lol. I think it'll be funny to see what he talks about when Mustang and Camaro are are within 50 pounds if one another trim for trim.

You guys don't seem to understand the disadvantage that Camaro had weight wise with platform it had starting out 5th gen. And to bring Pills logic into it.. Camaro had a bigger gas tank bigger wheels, bigger tired, more air bags, IRS.. That 200 pound difference from Mustang doesn't sound so large anymore.

Just a little more wait time.
I think you are probably pretty close with that plus or minus 50 pounds delta between each trim. I think what Pill is trying to get across is that the SS version is not going to see a 200 pound weight loss but something less due to all the accommodations GM is having to make with the chassis. GM has its hands full keeping SS weight below GT's weight in my book. We won't know for a few month though.

If its part of the overall cost, its part of the price of the product. Take a look at a phone bill sometime. There are probably a dozen user fees, universal connectivity fees and such. They aren't part of the "plan" but they are part of the service. Same with destination. It is baked into what you pay and as shown above it IS part of MSRP at least on the Mustang sticker.

Based of the current ATS Coupe trims, the Camaro will have a difficult time matching the Mustang in weight. It has zero chance of keeping it's MSRP. A 10% increase is common in the automotive world.

I don't count fluids if both vehicles are weighed without fluids, you are insane.

The 200lbs difference was one issue, bad geometry was the other. That needs to change this Gen as well. Those changes to the Alpha will add more weight and MSRP. The 5th Gen sucked, it shouldn't be difficult to drop weight when you downsize.

I'm pretty sure they all put it on the sticker.

If the SS weighs 3,900 pounds, I'll be right there with you calling it a failure. I just see no way that will happen especially being that was one of the top complaints.

Magnaride standard? 19x9/19 or 20x10? 255/265fr 275/285rr? 14.5fr/14 or 14.5rr? The Z51 aero package? The LT1 weighs 465-470lbs, the TR6070 weighs almost 200lbs. All this stuff on top of a potentially 3700+lbs ATS-V makes sub-3800lbs look hard to do. The Camaro will be wider and probably longer than the ATS-V, I can't even account for how much weight was gained in that process. I'd be pleasantly surprised at a 3850lbs 1SS Z51-type Camaro. A reason he could have been bringin up the 1LE vs. the SS is that they are comparable in those terms. Performance though was better in the 6th Gen as stated. But Al O. states a lot of sh!t too...

Remember when Chevy had to increase the C7's base price from $51,000 to $53,000? Even the packages increased before it was even available :(

Chevy has been know to make tragic mistakes and get away with it. I wouldn't count them out of this tragedy yet.

http://gmauthority.com/blog/2014/03...14-corvette-stingray-z51-performance-package/

One of the conclusions which almost everyone who’s driven the 2014 Corvette Stingray draws is just how much of a performance bargain it is. There aren’t too many other ways to get yourself into a 450 horsepower car for $51,000. But according to Corvette Blogger, the new ‘Vette’s irresistibly good price has led demand to outpace supply.

The Bowling Green Assembly plant is already churning out Corvettes as quickly as it can, so to help meet supply, Chevrolet has raised the prices of both the Corvette Stingray Coupe and Convertible by $2,000. The base price for the Coupe will now be $53,000 with the Convertible’s price jumping to $58,000. The price of the Z51 performance pack will also rise $1,200 for a total cost of $4,000.

The pricing increase went into effect on Monday March 3, with dealers being notified of the change on Tuesday through an internal memo sent by General Motors.

“Customer demand for both Stingray models and especially the Z51 has exceeded expectations and we are trying to meet that demand,” a representative from Chevrolet told Corvette Blogger. “Customers who have an order in the system are not subject to the price increase.”

A Chevrolet dealer also told Corvette Blogger that only cars built after March 3 are subject to the pricing change. So any Corvettes a dealer has on hand that were built prior to the announcement will still be sold for the original asking price.
HA!! What a p@nis!!!

I like this one...

Demand is up so? raise the MSRP?!?!?! That sounds like a pretty good deal.

What's funny is that Ford's site when building the Mustang shows 36,300 for MSRP of the premium. It has a "S1" next to the price.

If you scroll down, the disclosure for S1 States "Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (also referred to as 'MSRP", "base MSRP" or "starting price"), excludes destination/delivery charge"..

Yeah, look at the 12.x inch front rotors as well as the rears.

The 6th Gen may be much wider than the 5th. The track could be wider as well as the overall width.

2015 Mustang GT Performance Pack 300A - MT82 Transmission
Curb Weight (scaled at BMR) - 3736lbs
Front Unsprung Weight: 143.9lbs per side
Rear Unsprung Weight: 132lbs per side
Another issue is the Mustang's lightweight IRS vs. the 350+lbs Camaro IRS. Two completely different designs, one is just lighter over all. Wasn't the S197's rear unsprung over 225lbs? This IRS would only be 35lbs heavier overall. Could be GT500 S197 weights though. The Camaro and Mustang's front suspension should be about the same.
