Then why the hell did Chevy had all of their representatives claim "and were will even cover it if the motor goes on the track". I spoke to 3 guys at various shows. Cmon. Build a race car and give us a solid warranty, if left stock ofcoarse.

Any chance this motor makes it to a gt level car? That motor is epic. 8200rpm. That's beautiful.

Marketing and development guys making claims, and dealerships and regional reps actually agreeing to cover expensive repairs under warranty are 2 different things. GM will try every angle to deny claims unless the owner truly follows every GM recommended track prep and the issue cannot be proven to be related to driver error (i.e. over-rev from missed shift).

That is why I plan on doing everything by the book and no mods.

I can't remember the exact wording in my Boss manual, but I think the warranty applies for use at HPDE days, but not to door-to-door racing. The Z-28 manual could be looked at the same way.

Ford will warranty the GT350 if you drag or road race the car, as long as you are not in competition. This means if you enter it into the trophy class at the local drag strip the warranty is void if they find out. If you took the car to the same drag strip on an open track day not having been entered in competition, and not modded, then your warranty stands valid. Dave Pericak said that about the line lock on the GT. He said they don't mind their customers opening up the car to see what it will do in a controlled environment, just no entering official races. Road track or drag. Same for Chevy.

When I talked with Jim Owens (man, was he nice and professional at the same time) When I asked about horsepower...I asked is this going to be like the hellcat "over 700 HP" !! and it comes out 707 :( he said no when it says 500 + (PLUS) We mean plus !! I said well is it 590? or 580? ..I said... I hear this from another source...he smiled and said "lets put it this way NO ONE is going to be disappointed ! its going to have that much HP !! then I moved over to the TQ, I said 450....? He tilted his head in a "no" position and smiled (my guess was no..but Im not far off...Im now guessing 420 TQ, and over 550 HP. He also had a guy give me a few laps in the 2015 FORD Mustang GT. The guy who dove me around the track was a PRO driver, but did not do it for a living. HE took me around the track so fast, the only thing I could say the whole time was 4 things; Oh God, Oh Jesus, Were going to fast, and "were going to die!!....he was laughing the whole time....When I said we are going to fast...he looked at me and said we are not even up to speed !!!...I look at the speedo it said 140 MPH and the turn is right there !! Everyone !! I have a totally new found respect for anyone on the track..you have to have a death wish or nerves of steel !! what a trill.....

I am fairly sure the torque will be under 420lb-ft.

GT 5.0 makes 435hp@6500rpm, meaning 351.48lb-ft@6500rpm, the peak tq is 400lb-ft at a lower rpm.

If gt350 makes 540hp@8050rpm, meaning 352.3lb-ft@8050rpm, the peak tq will just be a fraction higher than the 5.0 GT.

I have done a number of tq comparison for different high rev non-DI engines(f430, e92 m3), most peak tq is about 80-81% of the total displacement (5L = 400lb-ft)

5.2L *80% = 416lb-ft, and i think it will stop there.

Thanks for the info, Donson.

I also think the engine will put out significantly > 500 HP -- if the 8250 redline is legit -- even w/ emissions constraints. My speculation is 540 or more.

I think 450 ft-lbf is a bit optimistic, though. We'll see...

Again, my main concern is reliability: how long will this thing spin at 8000? That and I'm hoping I won't have to buy Loctite by the gallon. :)

My guess.....

535 HP/415 TQ.

You can rest assured more than a few Voodoo's have been blown the smithereens in test cells to make sure the motor will survive at 8K

One other thing that Jim Owens said about the handling of the GT350. He said the handling is not just a step above 2015 GT PP, its an "escalator above"..."No comparison" Well let me tell you ..I thought the 2015 GT defied the laws of gravity on turning. I was in a NON modified 2015 GT on the track with factory street tires. That car turn so hard I thought I was going to fly out the window. I had NO idea that car could handle like that, and if that GT350 handles noticeable better than that ...it is a winner, and 98% of every buy will never take it to its limits. (Unless, you live in CA, and you find out the San Andreas Fault line has just broke, and you live 30 minutes from the safe area and you have 5 minutes to get there.........then you might push this car to its limits) sounds like a good movie..lol, and the right car as the star.

So early October available.
Starting Q4 2015. That doesn't mean your car will show up in the beginning of Q4. I would imagine the bulk of them being delivered around the holidays and into 2016
