Did you find exactly what you wanted on a lot?

I looked all over for mine and couldn't find one so I ordered it. Got screwed on the order by the dealer and found one "in transit" to another dealer with the 401A and not the 400A I had ordered. Otherwise identical. Got it for less money and was home in less than 2 weeks. Very pleased. So, I got a "lot" car that hadn't quite made it to the lot yet.

Pretty much yeah - I got a premium, automatic, no other options (other than a spare tire) right off the lot. Red was actually my 2nd preference vs yellow but there were no yellow ones anywhere nearby with what I wanted in term of options. I really like red though too so yes, I got what I wanted right off the lot!

The first one I saw on the lot was almost identical to what I ordered. But it had a front license plate bracket already installed. So I told them to build me another one and keep the bracket to themselves. Then I learned more about the premier trim option and added that...

I tracked one down an hour away from me with everything I wanted( Ecoboost premium manual guard w/ saddle leather, nav, and back up sensors ) and drove that day and picked it up.

I was very specific with what I wanted, and knew what options I refused to pay for.

I would have settled for a car with reverse sensors, if it would have been optioned like mine above. I kept finding cars that were really close, but they would have one stupid thing that was a no go like no nav, or an automatic.

I still haven't seen another dealer within 500 miles of me order the same car, and I keep checking.

I put my options in TrueCar.com and just so happened a local dealer had the exact one on order. It showed up 2 weeks later. Magnetic base with PP.

I walked on the dealership and drove home in mine that same day. Some other person custom ordered the exact car I wanted so I was pretty lucky

I did enough research... The car at my local dealer was everything I wanted -the navigation! I had my eye on that car for just over 3 months. Black with 20" wheels and 6 speed manual. Everything else is a bonus.

Found the exact car I wanted but it had a 3:55. Almost didn't buy it because I wanted a 3:31 for gas mileage. No regrets on the 3:55 it's really a better gear for the 6MT

My initial order was a CO GT with 20's, 3.55's, Nav, Rev Sens, 401A, Enh Sec. Not to many CO's on the lots. Then I saw what the CO looks like in the PP with the black wheels and the Recaro's, so I switched the order at the last minute. To be honest I wish I would have got the stock seats (which are the best i've seen) and got the Recaro's on the aftermarket. Then I would have kept the power/heat/cool option for resale. Everytime I see a car with the 20's I start second guessing myself too, but that's just the way I am with everything. I really do love what I got. I ordered on 2/2, built on 3/16, shipped 3/18, arrived 3/19, picked it up on 3/20. Worked out good.

Yes and no.
I built out the exact car I wanted online (DIB GT with PP and AP and a couple of other specific features) and it shows as 1 dealer having in stock. Turns out it wasn't actually in stock, it was en route, waited 2 weeks for it to show up.
I considered it a sign that the very specific model I wanted with the very exact features I needed on top was showing up at the dealer right around the corner from my house exactly when I wanted it.
Bought it the very night I went in to the dealer, sight unseen.
