Better to add, and not need then to need, and not have. I've seen a rear end get hot in just a few miles without it in a fox body, but no idea about these cars.

I'm not a diff fluid expert, but is there any possible adverse effects to having too much friction modifier?

I feel like you guys think I have a gun to your head to not add the modifier.

That's the funniest part.

Not so much funny as sad a straight answer can't be provided.

I think I've been convinced not to try Amsoil. Not sure if it's corporate or the lack of dealer training...somethin' ain't right.

It's probably just Amsoil doing the ol' CYA... Even if their fluid is good enough without the modifier Ford says to add it so their website says to add it even if it's not necessary...

Seems like a likely/obvious answer to me.

I'm not sure what you want from me, I've spoken to two techs at Amsoil who have given the same answer to me.

I'll say it a third time, I DID NOT CLAIM ANYTHING, THIS IS DIRECTLY FROM AMSOIL.

It is a straight answer. If you feel better about adding the additive do so. If you do not feel the need to then don't. EITHER WAY YOU WILL BE FINE.

On a serious note I believe you are right. More than likely Amsoil says to add it to cover themselves if anything goes wrong.

My gawd, it's not that big of a deal. If you want the damn stuff, add it. If you don't, forget about adding it. Plain and simple. Do what you want and think is best for your car and be done with it. :tsk:
