Ive stated this on a few threads and was dismissed lol. If you have the stock bvp going vta when you are cruising you most certainly will hear that thing open and go on and on and on.
Yep, and it is annoying as hell. I was pleasantly surprised to hear how much cooler it sounded recirculated.

It does sound better recirculated, it would sound even better if replaced with a mechanical BOV. :)

I let it VTA for a while, but put the recirculation hose back on before it went back to the dealer this week. I initially did VTA because it was frigid outside and I didn't feel like fiddling with trying to put it back on, but it sounds good to me either way. It's a good bit quieter (to me) while recirculated and I haven't heard the flutter type of noise. I'll have to pay closer attention to that! I too like the fluttering release sound more so than the straight psshhh of the valve. I've always been a fan of the HKS SSQ BOV for that reason. I may listen for that and end up leaving it on.

However, it is a bit of fun to catch people walking and blow off on them. The WTF look they give is sometimes priceless.

That sound can make a person happy in pants, lol. I like the chirp under boost, but love it's flutter under partial throttle. The Tial valves sound good too. I'll probably go with a Tial when I get charge pipes.

I installed the JLT CAI today. I did some tests runs with the air return open and then connected. I like both but I have to say that the sound is better connected back to the CAI.
I don't know how to describe it other than it's a little lower pitched and sounds like it's supposed to be there. Disconnected seemed almost artificial to me, even though it obviously isn't.

So I changed my mind and went with the blow off return open (at least for now).
if there any risk of dirt getting in? I know it pushes air out but it seems weird keeping it open. I just want to make sure it's safe. Can anyone confirm?

you could put some cut up screen over it, but I've left mine open. Most BOV's are open.
