Does anyone know if we can use a sto n sho bracket in Australia or do our plates have to be mounted to the bumper?

You shouldn't have any issues running one as long as it's always there when you're driving around.

Not sure about the legalities of how yore able to display your plates. I guess as long as they're visible and on the front and back of the car then you're all good.

Personally though, the sto-n-Sho is a nice solution but I would probably prefer something like this. Looks standard and no drilling required.

That's an awesome option, I think I'll end up going with something like that as well. Really does look clean.

I like that option and it avoids the cops saying its not a permanent mounting like the sto n show

Exactly, I like the position of it too, the sto-n-sho sits too low and if you had it on an EB it would cover up the lower intake for the FMIC.

The video showing the strength of the VHB is pretty impressive. And if you ever want to remove it for any reason it's a very quick process and doesn't damage the paintwork.

I've used VHB tape before to mount some aftermarket accessories to my car and that stuff will not budge rain, wind or sunshine. Provided you prep and clean the area you're applying it to, it will last for a very long time. Especially for something as lightweight as a number plate.

Me too.

Looks like it would suit slim plates too.

How would the plates be attached at the front otherwise?

Whats been happening with the guys in the states is that I think the dealers will drill into the bumper and attach a black plastic moulded bracket to the front of the car.
The front plate will then mount to this... ive had this on a previous car and had slim plates and it stuck out like dogs balls. Not sure what the dealer bracket looks like though.

If you get holes drilled, one solution for the guys in the US has been this:
http://www.bumperplugs.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=1_11_78&product_id=78
colour matched to your car...

I would suggest that you ask the dealer nicely not to drill into your bumper and that you will provide an appropriate plate mount solution for them to attach to your car and or request to just spend 15 minutes at the dealership to do it yourself when you go to pick up the car.

some people have gone as far as telling the dealer that if they drill into the bumper... the deal is off!

I prefer a bumper solution then the one that blocks airflow into the engine bay. From all these images it looks like that the bumper could accommodate even the regular sized plates without any overhang.
If they do drill the bumper just make sure it's straight, not on an angle, since I heard of examples where is was that bad...or do it yourself as others have already stated.

Tempting... still a long way off though and assumes that the Aussie models won't have the plate holder fitted at the factory

Our car came in the US with the front number plate bracket and mounting kit in the boot.
But there are two dimples already molded into the front fascia that are small but quite noticeable to allow correct alignment of the number plate mount.
I would say that it will be the same with the Right hand models.
