Like many of you, I have owned lots of cars...some better than others. This Mustang is now officially the best car I have ever owned, for a variety of reasons...the thing that really surprised me is how "connected" I feel to this car.

The downside of this love affair :) is that when anything happens to the car, I freak out. Just last week, after a nasty ice storm hit Texas, I walked back to my car at my work parking lot and my car was covered in dirt and stones from a truck that swept the parking lot with that crud. I almost puked...

My wife says I should just go buy a Corolla and forget about stuff like this...on some days, I think she is right.

Anyone else feel the same way? It is just a car, right??!!

I know I feel the same way! I am lucky to have my 2008 Honda Civic as my DD though. Otherwise, I would probably hate myself.

I cant even drive the mustang 5 miles down the road and as soon as I get home I have the detail spray and micro fiber out getting the bugs off the bumper.

Upside of being a Mustang owner coming from a BMW: people no longer make assumptions about me being an asshole that can't use a turn signal.

Downsides of being a Mustang owner: I keep hearing cliche stereotypes thrown my way, "your car is cool... but, it's like a hick car... you know? I mean, not that you're a hick or anything." Gee, thanks, that really softens the blow there bud.

Downsides of owning an S550 in particular: fucking small radius turns in tight parking areas. Cue Austin Powers multi-point turn in hallway scene.

There are car people and then there are non-car people.

I enjoy taking care of my car well beyond what 99% of people do. I am not ashamed! I love cars.

Just do what I so with the truck and back in :)

So does that make the assumption that you're a hick that can't use a turn signal?

Nah. Mustangs were meant to be a bang for the buck street burnout/sideways countersteering/trackday/autocross or dragstrip, shit eating grin inducing car.

Use it, enjoy it, no need to pamper it IMO. Save that for the Veyron purchase.

To support our local High School Band I drove through their fundraising car wash a week ago. It all went well until a kid soaping up my car set the bucket of suds on hood directly in front of me. Before I could react some other kid slapped him on the head and told him to take it off. No scratches but next time I'll just donate the money.

Exactly. After all, it's (relatively) cheap car, mine cost as much as my wife's SUV (~37K on x-plan), cleaning it every 5 mins kills all the joy from owning it. That said I do take good care of mine, but did that to every car I ever had.

I feel you, brother - but it's only a car. It will get dirty. It will see wear and tear.. There may very well be scratches and dents in some of our futures. The beautiful thing is that the car was engineered to survive that stuff!

She can take it. Question is, can we? LOL
