I am frequently asked by new Mustang admirers, " How fast will she go? and What'll she do?" Has anyone seen any published figures on top speed for any of the new Mustangs, especially the V6? With show season just around the corner, I would like to have that information.

The 15 V6 is electronically limited to 121mph. If you want to go faster then this then you will need a new driveshaft as these 2 piece shafts like to explode at higher speeds. I believe the actual top speed of our V6 is about 150-160.

Yes, a link to info to top speed (assuming w/o rev limiter and drive line considerations) would be great. This is just to 'know' not 'do' because that is the question that is usually asked (not how fast 'you' have driven it).

Great question!

I actually don't believe the driveshaft is limiting anymore. It definitely was on the 11—14.

I thought it was a carryover on the '15?

I think you are right and in my opinion 121 is to low as I have reached this quite a few times on highway races. Most other v6 cars nowadays go above this speed. But on a positive note the ecoboost has the same top speed limit so that made me feel better.

Aren't you 18 or 19 or something? 121 highway races?

Oh please don't let this turn into one of "those threads"....:frusty:

Going on a brief tangent, but I still think it's strange that the top speeds of the V6 and EB are significantly lower than the 155mph top speed of my ST.

I am 90% sure our driveshaft is a carry over from the last gen. Which would mean it does explode at around 130 ish.

Any ideas where to get a better drive shaft? I'm sure with a tune you can remove the top speed limiter of 121. I'm also sure that when I get a tune I will remove it.

Same here in my opinion having 300+ horsepower and having the top speed of 121 is just sad whether or not you plan to go faster.

Googling found this intake and exhaust modified 2008 V6 Mustang w/ it's 115mph limiter removed. It did 130mph.
