Just ordered ford racing borla exhaust from hypermotive. Is there any benefit from letting ford install it or just go to any auto body shop? Thanks

A benefit would be it would be good for service records, but I'm not sure if that is enough to justify the dealership hourly rate. Personally I'll be installing my own system when it arrives

Yeah I wanted to too but I don't have Access to a lift... I guess there really isn't any benefit for the dealership to install. They want 210 dollars for install which I think is kind of high for this exaust.

I plan on doing an ARH full exhaust on 6 ton jack stands. It will take longer but at least it's at my house and I can take my time over a weekend

$210 seems a bit steep. A catback can be installed in 30-60 minutes, generally an hour, so I would say $100 for install. But also very easy project on jack stands, even for a newb

OK thanks guys. I'm going to shop around. Hope I can find someone to install for a little lower. Feel like the dealership is trying to rip me off

Id say $100-125. I was quoted $130 which is a tiny bit high but ok with as the shop is highly reputable in the Mustang world and I know they'll take the stock system off my hands and make sure everything is adjusted properly.

Unfortunately in a 1 garage townhouse storing ramps or jack/stands really isnt in the cards. The garage just just fits the car with some car care stuff on the floor around. Plus buying a jack/stands or ramps is a expensive as letting someone do it (plus having to cut up and dispose of the stock system)

The lowest I have been able to get so far is 180 :/ but I did get it for a great price from jay33@hypermotive So I guess I can pay a little extra for install if I have too

Do you have a Harbor Freight near by? Get a low profile jack and stands and get the rear end up yourself. The hardest part of the whole process is taking off the stock system, just because it's heavy and in one piece. I had my wife help me lower it, which tells you just how much extra "strength" you will need.

The rest can be done alone, and the feeling of personal accomplishment is an added bonus. Plus, you can use the jack and stands for future projects (Oil changes, off road header install, suspension work, short shifter, etc).

However, I understand you wanting to keep everything under warranty however. Just expect the dealerships to stick it to you for the work to keep that warranty.

Second this! use the $$ to buy jack and stands then do it yourself. That way you know it's done right.

eh idk about Harbor Freight. Hand tools sure, they're super cheap and even if they only last a few years no big loss (a small socket set for $10 I mean cmon, and got a caliper tool set for my old S197 there to change the brakes that's still in great shape)

Jacks and stands idk if I would buy from there with my safety at risk. I'd go with a name brand personally. Safety devices I would never suggest skimping on

You know, I used to think this way about them too, and you are right they do have some weak ass tools. However, the low profile jack and stands I bought from them are built sturdier (and heavier) then the Craftsman floor jack and stands I inherited from my father years ago.

The jack stands are rated to hold up a full size pick up, and you only need it to hold up a portion of a 3700 lb car. They were more than sturdy enough for my WRX, my STI, and they handle my Mustang just fine. Plenty of people have been crushed by name brands too.

Oh I know. I've had some good stuff from them working fully years later, and some crap stuff that broke within a year.

Personally, I would still buy name brand for anything safety as a trust issue more than anything.
