60 years ago, Ford lost it's greatest driver.....Ken Miles. The humble man who swallowed his pride when Ford and the French screwed him out of racing immortality.

100% agree.

This post has also just reminded me to watch Ford vs Ferrari again

I like Playforever's tribute to him:
https://playforever.co.uk/products/ken-gibson

"Ken is the spirit of a man caught up in the beautiful and chaotic 1960's day night endurance racing that eventually claimed his life. At Playforever we wanted to pay homage to the mountain of courage and heart, Ken Miles."

Other colours are available, but I was only ever going to pick orange :)

I know that this doesn't have anything to do with the Post, but I can't resist. So, I apologize to any members who are offended by this. 60 years ago today, when I was 18 years old, I was in I Corps running around in the DMZ. Wasn't really concerned about the racing world at that time. Hard to believe it's been 6 decades! Once again, My Apologies. šŸ˜”šŸ˜”

RIP. Guy was a legend and unfortunately probably doesn’t really get as much credit as he deserves. Ford v Ferrari is a great movie, one of my favorites. From what I understand it’s fairly accurate, although Hollywood took some creative liberties and obviously condensed the timeline. Based on the books I’ve read over the years, there wasn’t really a combative relationship between Ken and the Ford execs (Leo Beebe specifically). That was made up for the movie. I believe Christian Bale also consulted with Peter Miles a bit for the role as well. Again, just based on what I’ve seen and read.

I’m glad Ford did a Heritage Edition GT back in 2021 paying tribute to Miles using the livery from the 24 Hours of Daytona win. Very cool on their part.

Thank you for your service. Ken Miles survived being a British tank commander after the D-Day landings in Europe.
