I recently purchased a donor complete pumpkin from a GT Mustang with PP, so I have a 3.73 Torsen rear end to install.

Anyone have recommended tools to buy or services to perform for the job?

My plan so far is to get a motorcycle scissor jack as I've been reading about on the forums, putting it on a creeper, and using that to position the new pumpkin in place when it comes time for replacement.

Is there anything else to account for that I should be doing? I'm going to reuse my existing axles until they fail, change the fluid after the differential is installed, else it seems like this is a pretty straightforward swap.

I was also thinking of changing out the axle seals and bearings since the Ford Performance kit (M-4413-B) seemed so inexpensive.

Any recommended tools to buy for the seal replacement service or installing of the differential?

I had my pinion seal fixed at the dealership because it required 3 special tools. Make sure you check about the youk because it had to be put in the exact same place. Im not sure how that will work with a new rear end. The pinion seal is a common problem and you might want to do it while its down. It requires a special tool that locks the beakes so it gets put in dead center. I just thought id give you something to figure out before hand. I wish I was a mechanical engineer and could help more. Good luck.

With the subframe down you can put in the rear subframe alignment spacers at the 4 bolt subframe locations. Check the differential bushings which are difficult to replace with the axles in place. Heard mixed reviews on the steeda ones. The aftermarket says it helps reduce the ping pong rear bounce and wear at launch (might increase NVH).

Are both cars auto or manual. The yoke is different from auto to manual so you might need to swap it

Thanks for much for these! Sounds like a tad of a pain but I think for whole pumpkin swap, not too bad. I'm now thinking of whether or not I should swap the axles, which are old but still in good condition.

Both are manual.

I did the same swap on a 2015 gt from the aluminum diff to the iron one was very easy. I did change the pinion seal and didn’t need any special tools so I’m not sure about that. I used gt350 axle for a cheap upgrade

I think that since I'm just changing out the whole unit with just maintenance refreshing, it should be pretty straightforward. Only if I was going to open up the diff I think I'd need to do anything special with gear adjustments, right?
