I don't own either so I did not vote.
However, I would only consider a 500 over my Mach 1, DCT is not a downgrade to me despite my insistence on a manual in a fun car.
I feel EXACTLY the same way. I would upgrade in a heartbeat if I could afford it.

If I had to choose one, I’d rather have a 350R or M1 HP over a 500. It’s personal preference on wanting an N/A manual car. It’s hard to compare. If the 500 had a manual transmission, we’d be having a different conversation.

You just proved my point! Two different platforms!
Maybe I am missing something here with you and @Gen 6 Mach I, but both the recent Gen GT350/R models and the GT500/CFTP models both used exactly the same chassis platforms namely the S550 platform therefore not quite sure how I proved your point?

Not sure if you were around when the 1967 Shelby GT500 launched but for those of us that were around back then, we all remembered pretty much the same comparison and questions being asked when surrounding the 1967 Shelby GT350 and the 1967 Shelby GT500 models which were also built on the same chassis platforms.

The 1967 Shelby GT350 styling and design was centered around at NA and high-revving small block V8 whereas the 1967 Shelby GT500 came with a NA big block Police Interceptor V-8 along with 2 four-barrel carbs therefore a much different driving experience.

Much like these recent GT350/R models the '67 GT350 weighed some ~565 pounds lighter than the '67 GT500 therefore was much nimbler and more agile compared to the '67 GT500 therefore the GT350 appealed to myself and most of my car buddies back in the day.

Hopefully you have had some decent seat time in either a 2020 Mustang Shelby GT350/R or a 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 but if you haven't hopefully you could have a spirited day of driving both models back-to-back as it is a totally different aural sound and driving experience especially if you like a manual transmission and shifting gears at a much higher RPM level?

If price comes into play for some enthusiasts there is a significant difference in price especially when comparing the MSRP for each of the 2-seat GT350 and GT500 models.

I haven't said anything till now but I don't understand how so many people said they are different platforms (or have different intended uses or transmissions) so you can't consider a 500 an upgrade. It's just ridiculous to me. It's the first time I've ever seen people suggest that higher optioned variants of the same platform (S550) can't be compared like that. It's like saying you can't consider a Raptor an upgrade over an F150 XLT.

2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R starting MSRP of $73,435

2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 starting MSRP of around $70,300.

Not an upgrade.

I know, I know, Base vs R. But still, it's a GT350 vs a GT500.

I do not even feel like GT350 is an upgrade over GT...

GT is a better value for long term day to day ownership, GT350 is for those who either plan to autox/track it or appreciate shelby iconic status.

But it definitely is an upgrade in term of more money spent.

Maybe I shouldn't of said it different , same car , same platform, two different uses , not to say they can't cross into each other intended arena .

Bad ai iteration though. After that prompt just tell it the gt500 is faster on road courses too and it will suddenly change its tune and provide a better response. The S197 GT500 was more straight line monster than road course weapon but the S550 is both.

Not an upgrade, It's a lateral move. Upgrade is a subjective word, to be fair.

If I could afford either or all… my preference would be Mach1 for Friday night fun and dinner, GT500 for Saturday morning drag strip racing, GT 350 for Sunday morning cruises through the White mountains!
Wait just a damn minute. You guys have days off to do fun stuff with your cars?

Does no one work 6 8hr days or 5 12 hour days anymore? I feel like im missing out until Im "done" with upgrades.

Please throw a couple potatoes chips on the ground for my sacrifice.

Well, I had both vehicles as well. I would say the GT500 was an upgrade: the tech, engine build- there were a few lessons learned from the GT350 that went into the GT500.

The GT500 was more refined and did the same jobs just as well. Just as the S650 platform is an upgrade over the last generation. Now, are they leaps and bounds? No. But enough refinements and changes that it does make a difference, and if you know where to look, you will find it.

Well, the Poll % currently sits at 58/42 GT500 is upgrade. If we get a couple more No votes the poll will match the GT500’s 56/44 F/R weight distribution 😂. Then, a couple more and it’ll hit the 350’s 54/46 F/R. I bet it will never hit the 50/50 of my SS Sedan though. Yes, it is 50/50.
