I procrastinate car buying decisions when it's a car I really can't afford, but it allows me to dream a little longer before I have to accept reality.
Hello; I get why some members on here have gone with such posts. I have been a member since November 2020 and still have not bought a Mustang. Such is apparently of more interest. There is no doubt I could have already had one and also no doubt the decision to not follow thru with a deal has been mine.
The reasons have not been for lack of funds. In each case ample monies exist. In the most recent case of the 1965 fastback, I posted in this thread days ago, I have the money on hand. I would still have over 80% of my savings left plus a regular income to live on.
I took a bit over three years to decide on my house and property. I do not get in a hurry about such things when I have the option. A Mustang is an old man's bucket list thing largely because I absolutely could not afford one when young. I do not need one but do want one. I also want the deal to be one I can be pleased about.
May well be the restomod Mustang is a fair deal at $85K. I am not sure how to judge that.

I made some sort of mistake posting about that restomod a few days ago it seems.

I don't think posting about the restomod Mustang was a mistake at all. It is very much like what I have done when being really interested in a particular car, that for one reason or another isn't a great idea. I bought my Z4 because the price was right and it checked all of my boxes, so there wasn't any need for discussion or delay. I have asked for opinions and discussions on probably a dozen vehicles, of which I actually attempted to buy three. Looking back, I should have tried harder or not waited so long for all three.

With respect to your restomod Mustang, offer $75k and see where that takes you.

I will likely order one of these or the new Ford EV truck. Very different vehicles but I like the concept of both.

Like Ford, Slate's first vehicle comes in one color only although you can get pre-cut wraps if you want. I'd likely leave it unpainted (body parts are some kind of composite.)
Probably not for me. I don't have even one puck, much less 1,455.

Hello; my nearest neighbor failed to check the oil in a car often enough. The engine failed. Neighbor need transportation so bought a used SUV. Still owes about $5K on the broken SUV + whatever the replacement cost. Not what the link is about exactly.

I have wondered when the excess of the Covid debacle would catch up with many. Did not wonder if it would catch up. Had to figure the side effects of gobs of easy money would eventually settle on us. A story I was shopping for a new base Mustang GT before the pandemic money printing & easy distribution happened. Was dickering with dealers in the $30 K range OTD. Had two such deals fail for very odd reasons. Now the number is closer to $48K when dickering.

We all likely recall the time when CARVANA and such places were offering to buy used mustangs for more that the owner had paid when new. An upside market and the only time in my life such a thing happened on such a scale. I had seen some specialty cars such as the Ford GT go up in value. Anyway the die were cast as the old saying goes.
Not that being underwater on a trade is new stuff. Such has happened for many decades. The scale is the issue.

I have thoughts.

Being upside down can be intentional by the govt. The City of Phoenix had an agreement with Honeywell for unlimited computer upgrades with no increase in payments. All that changed was the number of remaining months payments and interest rates. Honeywell believed and was probably right that the govt could never default. I was instrumental in putting a stop to that. The city did not like the huge budget increase while digging themselves out.

Q: If a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it, does it make a sound?

A: Until someone is present to observe it, the tree doesn't exist at all.

Hello; do squirrels & birds count. I was fly fishing on Cranks Creek Lake in Harlan County KY early one morning. There is an island in the lake. I was quietly moving with the electric trolling motor. Hear a big crack of splitting wood and then a crash. No one else around. guess I saved that tree from non-existence.
Did see some birds suddenly taking to the air. They seemed to hear the same thing.

Sounds like a beautiful place! I'm an avid fly fisherman, too! It's a peaceful, relaxing past time.

Hello; For the last 40 years there was a shop (McKay's) in Knoxville TN. They sold/traded used CD's, vinyl, books, DVD's, electronics and more. Over the decades I have bought CD's from them. I have bought somewhere north of 1200 factory CD's, many from that store. This past weekend they shut down the store in Knoxville.
I want to find a way to get old music CD's and some books. Books will be easiest as there are libraries. CD's not so much, maybe not at all unless they come back the way vinyl has.

To my question. I have heard of ways to get music online. I ignored such before as I prefer to own a physical version of the music.
My brother has an Amazon Prime subscription and told me about that. I do not want to sign up for that. He also had an Apple subscription of some sort in the past but the description is similar. This next part will tell the tale on me.

I do not mind paying for the music but will not use a credit card online. i do not use a credit card online at all. I hope to never be forced to do so. I have sometimes bought from Walmart's online store because i can use a Walmart gift card to pay. I hope to find either a way to buy music without a credit card or using a bank account.

I have heard of "free" online music but know little about such. If such actually exist can I somehow download music to me computer nd later burn the music onto blank CDs to listen to in my car with a CD player?
I know newer cars no longer have CD's. I burn/download some sample music onto thumb drives for when I go to look at a new car. Turns out not all car makes will play the WMA format. Some only will play Mp3. So the 1200 plus CD's ripped into my computer can be used in a new car with thumb drives. (note- Ford plays both formats well)

Thanks for any help.

Odds are you know someone with an Amazon account. Pay them cash to email you an Amazon gift card for the same amount. Same process if you want to order from some other on-line store that has gift cards.

Check the owners manual before buying. My Tesla plays FLAC and some others. I rip my CDs to FLAC since its lossless.

Hello; Someone, perhaps it was you, told me of FLAC a while back. I ripped a CD in FLAC but have not had a chance to try it in a new car on a thumb drive. Thanks.

Hello; Had a thought today and had to take a nap. but it did not go away. Try to keep the political stuff out of it if you will. The traffic at the Panama Canal is high due to the closed strait of Hormuz.

Iran is supposed to be running out of places to store oil. The story is if they shut down production the wells will be somehow messed up and maybe ruined???
My thought is what if they do not shut in the wells but keep on pumping. Maybe allowing the oil to spill on the ground or into the sea. The logic is they will have to shut down the wells, but I wonder if logic applies anymore. Is this idea as crazy as it seems to me??????

When blockade started, I couldn't believe talking heads immediately claiming Iran would have to "surrender" when they run out of storage or ships to hold the oil or "ruin" the wells by shutting down. I mean Iran didn't seem like the kind of folks who would make saving pelicans, fish, etc. any priority. Then again, they won't want to piss off Greta Thunberg.
