I just had a comically bad experience with a test drive of a '15 GT PP.

The car simply could not get traction. Are these Pirelli tires just that bad in ~35 degree temperatures? On the highway on-ramp, the rear-end skidded around and just had no bite. In 2nd and 3rd gear, even with moderate throttle, I was still feeling the end move around. Very disconcerting.

Is this an isolated incident or are you guys experiencing the same things in colder but dry weather?

I have been running the Michelin Pilot Super Sports in a variety of cars over the last 2 years and none behaved this badly, even in colder temps.

Its been mentioned several times in various locations on these forums that the PP summer tires are useless in sub-40 (possibly even slightly warmer) temperatures. Some people have reported (non life threatening) accidents when they lost traction in the lower temperatures with those tires.

Solution? Get all seasons or winter tires. and save summer tires for summer driving.

In Florida on warm days they bite VERY well. I've noticed less bite on cold mornings so imagine your super cold mornings would suck. That's why they make winter tires that handle the cold better. Unfortunate for you guys up north, but reality.

The MPSS are worlds better than the P-Zero's. This is normal behavior. The longer you drive and get more heat in them, they do behave a bit better.

Also a test-driven car may have Pirellis that are not yet free of the greasy manufacturing coating, making matters worse. It takes at least a hundred miles (perhaps more) of normal driving before they acheive their grip, which still isn't great in sub-40 temperature.

Same thing. Test drive around 40 degrees, wheel hop, felt like I was on ice skates. And don't think I broke 3000 rpm. Didn't like.

So is the Michelin Pilot Super Sport.

If this is normal Pirelli PZero performance then the tires just suck.

What was Ford thinking? :headbonk: What a terrible, terrible tire.
When warm they aren't horrible. It's a Summer tire. It's February. The weather in KC will be better this weekend. Try again then?

What's funny is that even ultra performance Summer "track" rubber behaves the same way even on warm days until there's heat in the tire. Different tires have different behaviors. Takes more than just a couple mile test drive to prove whether or not they're "good".

So is the Michelin Pilot Super Sport. Which never gave me any problems in my CTS-V or M3.

Do you have pictures of your GT-R , M3, CTSV, ....all cars I like.
