2015 mustang gt pp clutch replacement

My clutch finally went out on me original clutch at 163,000 miles bought it new. When I got the car I loved the clutch on it, it had lots of resistance and felt like a performance clutch complete night and day difference than the premium GTs clutch, I know the difference. got it replaced and I didn’t think about upgrading because I loved the original, and this is nowhere near the original clutch. Feels like the base GT spongy, no resistance I hate it absolutely terrible feeling compared to what I had……they are telling me there’s no difference in clutch from the GT to the performance pack……I know clutches and it definitely had a performance cutch before. Does the PP have a performance clutch or why was mine so different factory?

If you want a little more resistance, try the steeda softer clutch pedal assist spring (less assist = more resistance), that's what most people do.

As for why your original 163000 clutch felt stiffer, probably the throwout bearing was going out? IDK man.

I just ordered a Mcloed RTX twin disc ceramic clutch, and I will be installing a Calimer stage 2 transmission and a Barton Industries stage 3 short throw shifter. I will let you know when it is done how well they work together. My clutch is working fine but the transmission would not stay in second gear when down shifting. The car only has 35K miles on it. I bought it with 24K miles on it and I don't know how hard it was driven so I am going to fix the problem.

I only see one OEM clutch listed for my Mustang, never heard that the performance packs had a different clutch and it sure wasn't listed on the window sticker.

Thanks possible I got lucky. It was def a performance clutch but replaced the stock spring and it’s a massive improvement. Nothing like a performance clutch, didn’t reduce the initial spongy feeling but after that it’s 1,000 times better.

Update: replaced the spring and it’s a massive difference not like my other clutch , doesn’t take away the initial spongy feeling but after that it’s manageable……….the shop offered for me to buy a new clutch like a McLeod and they wouldn’t charge install but sounds like I’d be out the money for this clutch……is it worth spending $1200 on a new clutch???? Or burn this thing out not caring and a year or so upgrade

Not entirely accurate. The FP Street Handling Pack uses different springs than what came on the Performance Package-equipped cars.

But yeah, all the GTs used the same clutch assembly.

My friend, I’ve had stiff and light clutches and as long as the engagement feel is there, there is no glory in daily driving a heavy clutch pedal. Drive it for a year and if it bothers you enough to spend a grand or two, we can get you a heavier clutch.

When my slave cylinder died I replaced my OEM clutch while in there with a McLeod RST.

I will warn you it is what is called an "unsprung" clutch and makes a bit more noise than the OEM one. It doesn't like to be driven in lower gear at slow speeds, I have to ride in 3rd at 25mph streets instead of 4th now.

I however love it and it was definitely an improvement in the driving part - it has less slop when engaging and takes off a bit better thanks to the lack of springs that sponged up the initial bite.

It is not worlds better than stock, it is a nice improvement. If nothing was wrong with my transmission I never would have swapped.

This is likely a different manufacturer issue or the replacement clutch had a reman pressure plate and the springs are different than the original.

Is the new clutch an OEM Ford or an aftermarket stock style? Does it have all new components or reman PP and disc?
