Exactly! Had my '13 GT when visiting Chicago in 13'-'14. I'm the opposite of a Snowbird. Over 50 inches of snow that season. Just had a coal shovel and a bag of salt in the trunk. Never had a problem, drove all over the city. I know that many owners UP North garage their babies for the winter because of the increased chance of damage, understandable. But I was born and raised in Chicago, and I love to drive in the snow. You only live once. Enjoy your SnowStang!
These cars are a blast in the snow. And with the proper tires, traction is generally not an issue. I’m in the Chicago area

I had opportunities to drive company-owned Mustangs in all types of weather.
You're absolutely right that they can be a hoot. That with the right set of tires, they are quite capable to a limit. Deep snow?? About 4-1/2" to 5" on your side street and you'll need a hooptie. The front fascia either wants to dig in, unloading the rear tires. Or it wants to glide over the top and the belly pan acts like a big toboggan and unloads the front tires.
What keeps ours off the roads in winter is the SALT. Getting under a car that has been driven year-round in a state that uses salt on their roads vs. one that doesn't use salt is night and day.
My wife's car was bought new and has never seen salt. It still looks brand new underneath. No rust around the diff or on any of the suspension hardware. The slushy salt water that splashes up is reduced on S550 because of that belly pan. Without it the crud will get to the top of the engine! I've seen it on plenty of other cars!!

My baby is under a cover with a trickle charger. No salt has touched her bottom. My daily driver Mustang goes to the car wash when the temps are more conducive to washing. I go to a car wash that does not recycle the water. That's very important. While not pristine the underside is not too bad for a 12 year old.

I figure I'm on week 12 of 22 of PMS in the garage. Too old to fool around getting stuck in the snow and too lazy to swap out the summer tires.

Just getting out of a cold spell here in WI where temps dipped into the negative double digits with -30-40 degree wind chill. I have my Bronco for winter. The Shelby will be out after a good April rain..
