Yea, I may have spoke too soon on this. I have been doing some heavy driving the past couple of days, and my excitement for the tone of the system remains, but man this interior cabin noise is very very deep and loud. When I'm done driving it's like I've been standing in an echo chamber. I don't think I would classify it as drone, it's not vibration or buzzing, it's the natural exhaust note, but it's at such a loud and low frequency it's hard to withstand for long periods of time. I reached out to AWE (they are very helpful) and they said to wait 500 miles and that should go away. Has anyone else experienced this? Very discouraged because my initial experience was so good and it wasn't a cheap system by any means.
Perhaps I could line the trunk with some Kilmat or something to help this?

Rob did his research. I saw him asking questions on our social media, in email to our reps, on the YouTube channel, and here in the forums.

For anyone who is on the fence about getting a system from us, we live to provide the best sounding exhaust systems on the planet. We make all of our systems right here in Horsham, PA.

Questions can be directed to our team via this form: Contact Form
... Oh, and we also have American support staff and engineering experts to assist our customers here: Support Team

Christian, I reached out to your team and spoke to John (very nice guy, very helpful). Having had this system now a couple of days and put some miles on it. This system sounds amazing but the interior cabin noise is extremely loud and so deep when I'm done driving my ears are ringing and it's like I've been standing in an echo chamber. I don't think I would categorize it as drone, it's not vibration or buzzing, it's just the loud "bouncing" of the low exhaust note. It literally bounces off my ear drums. I think it's the bullet resonators "baffling" that is designed to cut the rasp. Is there anything I can do to mitigate this? John said to give it 300-500 miles and that should go away. Is that true?
If it keeps up this way, I'm going to have to make a change. Let me know. Rob

Sounds great! AWE is definitely a good option that I was gonna go with too. I watched your video of your old borla & H pipe setup and the rasp was definitely noticeable in 2nd gear. I personally love my borla s type Catback which has the X pipe and never thought it sounded raspy but rather refined and deep enough at the lower RPMs. Probably my favorite mod but do sometimes wish it had a more old school sound but also love how it highlights the unique pitch of the coyote. Definitely gotta be cautious out here in CA with it tho but I’m never taking it off no matter how many tickets I get lol

thanks man likewise! That’s weird though I hear it on my end. Here’s one of my videos with that clip which is at the end of it.

Got it that time! yessir, that's very similiar to how mine sounded before. My personal opinion is it's far too raspy, but everyone is different. The AWE is a much better sounding system, but the interior cabin noise on the AWE is next level loud.

Oh man it was so much raspier when I just had a X pipe with the active exhaust so maybe that’s why I don’t feel like this is raspy. Would definitely go with AWE if I ever want to spend the money to change it again. That’s crazy though I’ve always felt like the cabin noise with the borla was pretty loud! Makes me wonder how the AWE race Catback one is like then in the cabin because from videos I’ve always thought that one sounded badass from the outside at least

AWE Touring right now by far has the loudest interior cabin noise I've ever had. It's LOUD DEEP AND BOOMY. It sounds fantastic, don't get me wrong, but man o man. very loud.

Mine makes cabin noise too.

It’s a byproduct of a louder than stock exhaust system, don’t think there’s a way around that unless you retain the OEM exhaust.

It still doesn’t have the drone that gives me a headache.

No sir. I am coming from a Borla S-TYPE cat back system with an H-pipe. Before that I had a Borla ATAK. The AWE has a low frequency "bouncing" off your ears that's driving me crazy. It's like a pressure that's hitting the back of my seat and ears.

Yeah, that’s sort of my experience. Depends on load, and RPM range.

Seems like if I lug it below 2000 RPM, there’s less of that.

Doesn’t really bother me. Goes with the territory I guess. Could be much worse…. YMMV.

Sound clips sound similar to the borla s type with stock resonator (aka their axle back). The build quality on the AWE looks a lot better than Borla though.

it's not the best sound clip, it was taken with my wife's iphone 9 LOL. It really doesn't sound like the Borla at All. The Borla sounded terrible honestly - way way too raspy, even with the stock res. Loving the AWE, although the cabin noise is pretty substantial - too much so.

Yeah, its tough to get an idea from sound clips. Is the cabin sound you're hearing at certain gears/RPM/engine load or is it just annoying you all the time?
