Keep the Shelby. Getting rid of it is a fear-based decision and that's not good in this case. What's the saying...fear only exists in your imagination of what could happen. So youre getting rid of a beloved completely unique never to be built again perfect in every way vehicle...because something MIGHT happen? meh. Also, chances of it happening twice must be statistically less than it happening once, right?

Keep the three fitty. IF IT BREAKS DOWN AGAIN then you may purchase your choice of the multitude of used M1s, or by that time, the multitude of used Dark Horses. my 2pennies.

p.s. and with the new engine you will now have the chance to properly break your own brand new voodoo engine in 2023.5, dude youre sooo lucky!
I love your positivity. I tend to have that same attitude but having the car down 2 months of the 8 I have owned it makes me jaded. If it breaks down, I have to go through this process again BEFORE I can sell it. Anywho, splitting hairs at this point. We shall see.....hopefully they get the replacement in faster than estimated.

Wonderful analogy. I'm the kind of guy to come in double fisting but get an uber home/wife drives. Ha! :-)

It seems like a lot of 350 owners I meet have had engine replacements and/or consumption as well.

My previous car was a 1SS1LE and I always wished they did the aero from the ZL11LE on the ZL1 or just the 1SS1LE. That car was wonderfully balanced.

I really do love the sound, nameplate, and looks over the Mach 1. Just have to figure out if that's worth the lack of peace of mind.

Interesting to hear you double down. The 350 is special.

Appreciate everyones feedback. Looks like I need to test drive a Mach 1. Will try and find one in Georgia and report back to this thread. Gah! Hard decision.
where in ga? I'm in the Warner Robins area. I'll let you drive mine.

Never drove a 350 but op reply indicating 2 months down time is indicative of the challenges of future breakdowns with the 350 as it pertains to parts availability and cost to maintain. I can envision the 350 value go up significantly with one caveat, you will have to use it less as a fun car and more a garage queen as it ages. (Not sure how a new engine will affect the resale value though). I keep reading about blowing engines here (decreasing the inventory) and if I owned one and never ‘abuse’ mine, I’m thinking Im sitting on an investment. With a Mach 1 as a daily, it checks off all my boxes. It depends on what you want to do with it and what your budget will allow. Definitely test drive a Mach 1 though. Good luck with your decision.

GT350 cars are awesome. I’ve had a 2, one being an R. The R was extra special. To me, the engine reliability of the 350 is enough of a concern for me to stay with a Mach 1. I am sure the 350 engine issues are slightly exaggerated as most things tend to be on the internet. I think that if I was independently wealthy, I would buy a GT350R with the mentality that if the engine goes I will have a another one built with no expense spared. Is a Mach 1 a direct replacement for a 350, no, in my opinion…. But it is much nicer than a GT.

Ok, two points…

one; you can rebuild your voodoo at about 1/4 of the price (or less) of a crate motor, so stop dropping this ridiculous 26k number 😉

and two; @First Stang let’s meet up and swap cars for a bit, lemme know whatcha think and I will do the same 😬

45,700 miles on my 2019 factory installed Gen2 engine (engine, not motor cuz it ain't electric).

I bought the extended warranty and I don't plan on slowing down.

Wait for your Gen2 engine and start racking up the miles & smiles.

Do you track your 350? If so, keep it after you get your new engine and then if you have issues again look for something else like the Mach 1 hp. If you are just daily driving but want to track it too then you should go for the Mach 1. This way you have a more reliable engine for daily and if you want to track it occasionally you can. You can mod both the Mach 1 and 350 unlike so far Dark Horse. Make a list of the pros and cons plus what you do with the car to make your decision.

Well everyone! The new motor is being installed today. I am SUPER excited. Cause of failure was a broken oil pump gear.

The new motor comes with a 3/36. Was down for approximately 2.5 months. I CANT WAIT to drive it this weekend.

Of course it was covered under ESP. Word of caution to anyone with the ESP...my service advisor at Ford said the reps with ESP can be finicky (some of them). This particular rep asked for engine bay pictures and pictures of my wheel wells to check for RACING. Yes, you read that right.

It took so long because ESP mandates ford break down the engine to identify point of failure. Had tons of cars in front of me at the dealer and only one individual who could work on the 350.

You better not be racing your GT350, lololol.

Ouch! Glad they are taking care of it, the "racing" check is silly. 2.5 months of downtime sucks no way around that part of it.

On another note If I had a magic wand I would have my oil pump replaced with metal gears. Fairly big job so I'm not going to do it, but high HP guys and track rats should consider it. Its one of the few changes I'd like to see for the Coyote.

I just wish the MACH1 got the GT350 brakes.
Really? Then perhaps only for looks. I've changed pads on the GT350 at the track and it's a pain, the calipers are huge and the pads load from the bottom, i.e. you have to remove the caliper. It's challenging for one person to do.
From a performance standpoint, they both are pretty equivalent and the Mach 1 pads load from the top, a huge convenience factor.

UPDATE: Decided against the Mach 1 and went with the GT350! Woot woot, AG this time. Love it. Flew to Houston and drove it back to Georgia. So fun.

It needs a new steering wheel, front splitter, coolant reservoir if any of y'all have one spare you would like to sell.

Tramlines like hell too -I feel like my previous car didn't do this. What is the solution? Alignment with toe in?
