I was under my car today doing some exhaust related work and there is something on my Torsen diff that I haven't seen on other S550. A tube or hose coming off the diff. Is that a diff cooler? If it was it doesn't make sense as there should be 2 lines then.

You don't have a diff cooler. That would look like mine. To the left of the diff cooler line... there is an electrical connector. I think the other post is right that's your temp sensor.

Thanks for the advice guys. It is indeed a temp sensor. Since there doesn't seem to be a way to read it in the car I assume its a safety thing (i.e. limp mode if diff overheats or similar).

I was under the impression that the temp could be read from the dash.

Why the heat wrap in that area on the exhaust?

No heat shield in that area. Car goes to the track 4 days a year. Trying to keep the temps down during June to September Florida heat.
