What is this, Cracker Barrel?

Ford Motorsport was the iconic segment 30+ years ago and they changed it to Ford Racing. Then it went from Ford Racing to Ford Performance…. Now we’re going backwards to Ford Racing again…

It’s like there’s a newbie at work who thinks he came up with a new jingle and everyone goes “Aye”, but everyone isn’t aware it already existed…

SVT wasn’t “original” either; SVO (Special Vehicle Operations) was the first and they (internal Ford) changed it to SVT….

IMO, Ford Motorsport should be the “come back” over Ford Racing, since it was the original and encompassed everything and wasn’t just a singular term “racing”. Plus like mentioned, the original FMS logos were way better than the later Ford Racing, Ford Performance, and now the Ford Racing (again).

I wonder if this is the reason why their mustang track handling pack has been delayed for so long.
May I suggest that it probably has to do with the “seasonal” change that happens in most industries. The old guard retires and a group of young energetic newbs begin filling their positions. Of course, they have read a book or two on the new way to do things and want to impress the powers that be with their new old ideas. So they change names and titles while actually changing nothing so that it appears that they are revitalizing and reinvigorating the department to make themselves look good and get the bonuses.

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. While we begin our 9th month waiting on a Track Handling Pack. Something that should be available even with changes in parts suppliers but isn’t because someone, or group of someone’s, has determined that it will demonstrate to the bosses that they are ensuring high quality and performance for the brand. In reality they have done nothing because their predecessors did all the work. All they have really done is increased the margin by outsourcing a part or parts which now demands recertification of the system which they may or may not know how to do.

I am with you. Just get the parts out for the consumers who want them and quite lip massaging the bosses brown eye.

If they do what they say they plan to do, I could care less what they call it. Motorsport, Racing, Performance, whatever. If it leads to better performance products for the actual production cars, that’s all that really matters for us the consumers

I find it hilarious that some folks get so ruffled by a name or a logo. I understand heritage and marketing (I was a marketing major in college), but at the end of the day the PRODUCT is what matters and what keeps customers coming back for more. Eyes on the prize folks, let’s see how this translates to the products that are made available for us the consumer.

Didn't Ford Racing combine with SVT and others to make Ford Performance? Are they leaving the group?
Based on my recollection the SVO Division was launched in the early 80's and just before the SVO Mustang came out after which time SVT Division was formed in the early 90's.

Don't recall exactly when Ford Racing launched but do recall when meeting with Ford on numerous occasions that Ford Racing was replaced with Ford Performance with the launch of the 2015 50th Anniversary Mustang GT Limited Edition model along with the 50th Anniversary 2015 Mustang Shelby GT350R of which 137 regular production models were produced along with 8 pre-production GT350/R models.

Now back to Ford Racing as of today with Will Ford at the helm and all sounds pretty good to this old guy.

First of all, THIS was HILARIOUS and SO on point!

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
How apropos is THAT?! <smile>

IMO, THE best Who album.

Secondly, regarding this post..

They just changed all their logos last year to the updated design/fonts.
I went to brandsoftheworld dot com and seached on "Ford" to see if they have released any changes. After perusing the images there, I didn't see anything that has changed. Maybe those new nerds haven't arrived at BOTW yet. :=)

I was unaware of this Harry but Mr. G filled me in, thanks.

"Will Ford is the general manager of Ford Performance, Ford Motor Company's motorsport and racing division, a role he assumed in September 2023. As a fifth-generation member of the founding Ford family, he is tasked with growing the Ford Performance brand into a global business and lifestyle brand. He holds degrees from Princeton and MIT and previously worked in venture capital and entrepreneurship."

Will sounds like an interesting and very intelligent young fellow (young by my standards as I believe that he is 34 years old) and it would be great fun to sit down with him sometime and discuss all things Mustang!
