Fondly remembering the days of 28.8…….
28.8- you must have had money. I started on 14.4. I remember upgrading my usrobotics modem to 56k. I had family come over to see it that friday night

Wow! I can't believe it's still up and running. I would have thought it would have been shut down a long time ago. Like, fifteen years ago, at least.
Is there really anyone still dialling up in 2025?

My modem was theoretically capable of 14.4, but the line was so noisy that 9.6 was the maximum achievable with any degree of reliability - and that was on a good day.
Oh, the good old days... Old yes, but good... is debatable. 😁

Haven't had dial-up in like 25 years

Doubt you could even use this site with it. It'd take 30 minutes to load one page even with ad blockers. You'd need some adblockers and script blockers. Or just use Lynx or Links!

I distinctly remember it taking about ten minutes to download 1 megabyte from the local BBS's. So if you were lucky, that was about 4 floppy disks (1.44MB) in an hour.

Started on 300 baud back on the C64....14.4 was blazing years later on the PC...then 56K USR was great. Dial up BBS sites!

Don't miss it by any means but those were the days.
