So I thought many of you would find this interesting. There is consistent complaining about what our cars cost. I think this will help put it in perspective.

24-valve SOHC V-12 5576 cc (340 CI). 372 horsepower at 5300 rpm/402 pound-feet of torque at 4000 rpm
0-60 mph in 5.3 seconds
The quarter mile in 13.9 seconds at 102 mph
0.85-g cornering limit
Base Cost (31 years ago) $108,395

Now I know this is a more luxurious car but all the sudden a Dark Horse for $70-80K seems more reasonable.

It looks just fine. The point of my post was just to show the level of performance from a 31 year old car that cost significantly more money than today’s Mustang. Of course a 1994 Mustang is going to be significantly cheaper. But today’s base GT will cost under $47k and blow the doors of the SVT. That’s not too bad for 31 years of financial growth.

Not directed to your post, but I find it funny when they use the word “base” when speaking about GT500’s, Mach 1 and GT350’s as if it were a 301A Eco boost Enterprise rental Mustang with crank up windows.

oh no kidding…still kicking myself for not grabbing both gt500 CFTPs when my dealer up in Seattle called me. I was still drooling over the 350R at the time

can you imagine what a loaded gt500 would go for nowadays, seeing what the DH is hitting

The 350R is amazing, so is the 350. I get it, and there’s a reason I have both. I’m lucky. Nothing against the DH but no way I’d spend that for it . I’d be looking for a very nice Gt500, the cars a bargain. Some cars just stand the test of time with no help, like the 850 Ira posted about. The 350’s and 500’s will be there to, actually already are.

Hard to believe that this was six short years ago. But a “base” GT500 cost
$38k less than the ‘94 Bimmer.
