Still available - some things I didn’t like that also pushed me. Had the rear bumper delete mod that looks sexy as hell but no stock bumper so that was an issue. It had the gray painted caliper option from the factory but the guy painted them red which also bothered me and that wasn’t disclosed. Had an aftermarket exhaust with no stock exhaust. And he swapped the seatbelts from red to blue but had the stock belts so that was fine. Was told car had full PPF and it did but was def in need of replacement. So what was once a perfect car for me price and spec wise ended up having some nuances that eroded the “relative value” to me…I normally wouldn’t care as much about the above on a more standard car but the oem parts are increasingly rare, expensive, and this is the kinda car that people want either original OR with all the original parts…still sweet, just more inline with market price vs a perfect deal for me.
If you change your mind, hit me up and I'll put you in touch with my friend. Chances are he might have the parts in question.

The 06 Ford GT is a hero car for me too. But in terms of refinement and capability? The 350R is more capable and faster on a race track or a tight mountain pass. That's pretty much the only realm where I measure a car but it may not be like that for other people so if your heart is in it, then definitely go for it. If you're second guessing it, it may be a sign.

Wouldn't that be the opposite there, smarty pants? I couldn't care less about drag racing.

When I read your post it instantly made me think of that quote from dom. Did it hurt your feelings since you decided to insult me? lol.

It is the principle that you only measure a car one way plus when I read your post it instantly made me think of that quote from dom. Did it hurt your feelings since you decided to insult me? lol.
If you feel insulted by smarty pants, then the internet might not be for you. With that being said, I will put no further effort into this conversation.

I've spent a good amount of time in an 06 GT at the track (didn't drive it, just rode right seat). At the 100-150k price range, they're a no brainer, imho. But at their increased cost - I personally just couldn't justify it. At least for me, I am actually in love with the GT40 and the GT just isn't close enough to warrant that much money.

I'd rather build a GT40 replica and smell all the smells and feel and all the feels.

But, I am a weirdo that doesn't care about collectability - just the driving experience.

Now that is a car worth a serious look!
Holman Moody is still building originals as well. The price tag is probably a bit on the hefty side though

I think the 06 GT was all about speed and how it feels at speed. It was the first to crack 300 MPH in the Texas mile speed racing. There is probably not a better car at high speed than a Ford GT just add power it will handle whatever speed you want to do without trying to kill you. It had the best aero of any car in its time and did not need a wing to stay on the track.
