I have a 2015 Mustang GT, upgraded the original My Ford Touch to a Sync 3.4 unit from Hextall. I'd like to update to the latest software build of 3.4.

When I connect through home WiFi the system tells me it's using the latest update, but the build is 21194. I thought 23188 is the latest Sync 3.4 build?

Any suggestions how I can update from 21194 to 23188?

Thank you!

I used this thread to learn how to upgrade from what I had previously to 23188. The 23188 updates are in the posts near the end of the thread. I used a USB stick and the manual method. The Ford site has had information how to download updates to a USB.

Update to 3.4.21388 complete. All went well. So well, I updated twice. :giggle:

Started car, backed out and inserted stick in USB port. Car recognized the update and began the process.

Driving, around the 10 min mark, the car advised update complete and the USB could be removed.

I didn't catch it in time, but Sync then rebooted, recognized the stick and began the update process, again. It was a cool day, so about five minutes in, I parked and sat, idling.

After the second time, removed the stick at the completion message, turned off the car and got out. After waiting a few minutes, I got back in and went on my way. Update completed without issue.

The log file was not generated, but I'm not concerned. Reads that for the overwhelming majority of owners, the log file process never occurs, or generates a corrupted xml file if it does.

Thanks again for the insight.

:like: Yes, this does work. Thank You.

I enabled and then shared home Wi-Fi to the car.

Connected with the car, checked for updates.

Shut all that down and gave Ford 15 mins.

Checking the Ford site, they are not now (corrected my post here) showing the car as up-to-date.

Thank you! I’d love to update it from a memory stick, but I don’t have the VIN of the car the MFD came out of (I bought it from Hextall and they didn’t keep a record).

Might have to go to a Ford dealer and throw myself at their mercy.

Thanks! After reading it I think I won’t try the Cyanlabs method, both because I don’t own any Windows device (all Apple all the time), and mostly because I don’t want to risk bricking a MFD unit that didn’t originally come with the car.
Mine did not come with sync 3 either... MFT sync 2, Not going to get anything directly from Ford unless you have the VIN number from the unit your seller pulled your APIM from. Do any of your family or friends have a Windows Machine? The process to create a bootable USB takes less than 30 minutes and all is free... Not going to get much help from Ford... GL
