Had my first tire change today, the stock Michelin PS4S came off for continental extreme contact sport 02. I moved from 255/40/r19 front to 275/35/r19 and rear went from 275/40/r19 to 295/35/r19.

I was at 17,200 miles on the Michelins but both of the fronts were worn to the cords on the inside. I did some googling and found that I wasn’t the only owner with this issue but it didn’t seem widespread. Going to go for alignment next just to make sure nothing crazy going on there. My driving had either been highway or winding back roads through the mountains.

Anyone else have this before?

My 2018 GT was the same way, no matter what wheel/tire package I used or what alignment I tried. Front inner edges worn.

I was at about that mileage when I replaced my tires but only due to age and dry rot. No unusual wear. But this is on a GT Premium with square 255 40 r19 P-Zeros. It may have different alignment specs than the PP's.

How are the Continentals vs the Michelins?

I’ll get to test them soon enough, I didn’t get much play time in it today. Feel good for the little bit I did drive though. They came in just over 1500 so even if they’re 90% of what the Michelins were, the cost savings will makeup for it.

Thanks for the replies!

I think that you will find the Conti 02s better than the Michelins.

I also had my front tires wear on the inside. After I had my new tires installed, I got an alignment. My toe was off. -.05 left front and -.09 right front. The mechanic reset the toe to 0.00 on both sides.

How does one get 17000miles out of a set of tyres ?? wow. I’m lucky to get 5 to 6000 😅😅

my front insides do wear similar to what you say , all mustangs do. but make up for it in the twisties / mountains so they end up outer and inner edge end up similar and centre has a little tread.
backs….wear even and much quicker than the fronts 😩 I need 500+ treadwear or something hahah

My 21 Mach 1 non PP also wore out the inside of the front tires in under 20,000 miles. My 18 GT did the same thing. I believe something they do in manufacturing these cars causes the wear. I don't track the Mach, nor do I drive the snot out of it.

It's the toe. Set it to zero or a slight bit of toe in.

Yep, had same issue on my 18 GT PP1 on PS4S. Replaced with Conti's. Did not repeat itself on my 21 Mach 1. Too soon to tell on my 22 Mach 1 as the tires are new with fresh alignment. I prefer Michelin as the Conti's appeared a tad bit smaller.
