Assuming that’s the issue with my car, how urgent is it to get new ones put in? I have the idle issue that’s usually indicative of vct problems, buts it’s very sporadic. I can go weeks without having the issue, and it mainly happens when I drive the car for a while, then turn it off, then drive it again.
I’m just trying to figure out if this is more of an annoyance, or actually something that will eventually damage my car.

Are you getting the chirping sound? If so, mine has been doing that for at least 3 1/2 - 4 years and no CEL or performance issues.

I don’t have any chirping. Does yours ever have idle fluctuation?

No, idle fluctuations on mine, only the chirp. I’ll be changing them in the coming months though when I tear into the motor for valve train upgrades.

My 2019 has given me idle fluctuations a few times a week for over a year. I'm gonna wait till closer to the end of my warranty or if it gets worse to take it in.

I’d take mine in but it’s my only car so it’d really need to be worth it for me to give it up since I need it for work. That’s why I am wondering if it’s something I can live with every once in a while, or if it’s indicative of something catastrophic happening down the road.

This is very strange.

I too believe I have a VVT problem that is intermittent.

I could be driving for a couple of hours and the car seem well just off. Not pulling as hard and a rougher exhaust note.

only to stop the car for 30 mins and go again and it’s smooth as silk and pulls hard too.

I get a long rattle for 30 seconds when it cold starts then stops and the rpm’s come down.

I do get a chirping sound but I think that may be the HPFP ?

I had chirping for several years on mine, but recently replaced the sensors in the front of my timing cover. I’m not back up and running yet to test and evaluate, but I’m hopeful that’s what the problem was. The chirp would go away when I unplugged thst passenger side, and come back when plugged back up.
