Hey everyone.
Of course we all know about the 5.0 coyote bbq typewriter tick, whatever you want to call it.
well for the last two years I’ve been doing my own oil changes on the car, usually use Pennzoil Platinum 5w-30 and the tick has subsided quite a bit. It’s still there but not crazy.
had a performance shop change my oil the other day while it was there bc it was close to due and I was feeling lazy. Plus it’s nice to report on carfax. Well the 5w-30 they used, it’s just tick tick ticking away and it’s very annoying to listen to.
Does the brand of oil really matter? I know that the coyote tick is nothing to write home about, as we know ford says it’s a normal function of the motor and it’s no cause for alarm but it’s just annoying to listen to.
Anyone else have it pretty bad? My car was like this when I used to run 5w-20 in the car when I first got it, but switched to 5w-30 since people suggested it wouldn’t be nearly as bad.
