Bought an ABS plastic matte black factory style HP front splitter on ebay for ~$150.

Yesterday, installed it in about 2 hours, pretty good fit, just had to redrill the 4 end holes that were off by about 3/8". Went for a drive, pulled back into my shop and promptly caught it on the lip of my lift, snapped it right in 2. Spent the next 30 minutes removing it and 5 minutes throwing it in the recycle to make me feel better.

I think it snapped because it's stiff ABS plastic, not the flexible stuff the factory one is made of. Maybe a factory one would have just popped over the lip of the lift. Or maybe I should have thought about it and put boards in front first.

So to make me feel good again, I installed a GT350 oil gauge pod (new, from @LevittownFordParts ) in the Mach 1. Easily changed over the chromish trim rings so it all matches like stock. Works well so far. I know its calculated oil temp, but it's better than vaccum. One of the easiest things I've done on this car... all of 10 minutes.

Anyways, <sigh>, that's what I did to my Mach 1 yesterday.

WOW sorry about the splitter, that sucks :( I definitely have the guages on my radar :)

All I did was open the garage door, look at mine as I walked by on my way in the house *SIGH* Hope the winter weather moves out quick and it warms up some :)

I did get Nebula out today for a run. Felt good. Was healing to let her breathe a little.

Very, very easy to do the gauges yourself.

I dont know how you northern folks do it but I can’t stand a week without driving it. I normally try not to drive in the rain (keep it cleaner longer) but before a cold front comes in, I said screw it. I didn’t realize how hard it is to back out with all those rain beads. Camera is is a win! I’ve also grown more appreciative of other ’sports’ cars around me and love seeing one. One year in and loving it more. Looking forward to Mustang Week Galveston in April.

I can't speak for others, but I've lived in northern NY my whole 65 yrs. It's SOP to put your "summer" car away for 4-5 months. Does it stink? Of course.

I’ve lived in Chicago my whole life. A lot of people put their “summer” cars away here too. Not me though. I bought it to drive it, not save it. Tomorrow is promised to no one is the view I take. I do see a fair amount of Scat Packs, Camaro’s, Mustang’s and even some Corvettes driving around all year. Plenty of M cars too. To each their own but I prefer to drive mine. 👍

This isn’t an exotic . Put all-seasons on and drive it when it’s dry out.
I wash the salt off if it gets dirty.
It’s the wet salt that causes more damage

Although it drives me crazy to not drive it all winter, I half don’t mind because of being too grouchy to jam myself into that tiny seat with a giant coat on and shift gears at 5AM when the Ram is spacious, warm, quiet, and already beat to hell so who cares about the salt.

Kinda the same boat. My daily driver is comfortable, quiet and gets the job done, is AWD, good fuel mileage too. Since I drive 200 miles a day most days I prefer not to put that kinda mileage on my Mach 1 :)

I do get it, particularly with S550 and how it may be the last fully custom-tunable Mustang. People want to hold onto them for a long time. Particularly the more special trims like the Bullitt, Mach and Shelby’s. Given how Ford seems to be moving away from legacy nameplates, it may be the last time we see some of those names (save for the Shelby American cars). I just figure, I bought the car because I love to drive it. So I’m going to drive it. These newer cars are much better protected against salt and corrosion than they used to be (although it will inevitably rust/corrode in some areas over time).

But, we all choose to spend our hard earned money how we want and will do what we want with what we buy with said money. No judgement either way, just how I think about it.

I hope you’re right on the value because as of today the dealership will only give me $40k for my premium mach 1 non-hp with 28k miles
Paid $56500 4 years ago and when Covid hit this same car went up to $60k over night:
So that’s a $20k depreciation.
Entertaining a Dark horse premium for $1200 off msrp at $68500 .. can’t imagine how much I’d lose on that purchase ! Lol

I do think there’s a floor on some of these legacy nameplates, particularly lower mileage examples. Closer to stock the better too.

DH will probably see the normal depreciation curve, those Covid values hung on for quite a while but appear to be gone now. Or at least coming down a fair amount.

Yeah, hard to say.
I can afford it, but Just can’t bring myself to give Ford that kind of money .

I was kinda in the same dillema on mine. Traded my GT Premium PP for my Mach 1. Took a bath on it but I am happy with the car for sure... Only saving grace was I put a HUGE down payment on my GT when I bought it initially so I did have equity in it at least :) I don't regret it :) The Mach 1 is so much more car :) And I wanted back in a manual and knew I wanted the Tremec. I looked long and hard at Dark Horse but I still am not sold on the look, or the new fancy electronics. The S550 is plenty fancy for me :)

So the looks have grown on me, not so much the GT but the Dark Horse is badass.
It’s the touchscreen that I really don’t know I can handle: not only have I read it’s slow and unresponsive but what about glitches in the future.
I don’t need all that screen! Lol
