Beautiful car. I hate taking care of black cars, but hard to beat when clean and shiny. The blacked out look really looks menacing on the R.

What an outstanding find and thanks for posting as this is just a beautiful example of 1 of the very last Base R models to be assembled before production came to a permanent end in late April 2018.

You maybe already know this but from a production numbers standpoint there were 19 Base R models built for the U.S. market and 2 Base R models built for the Canadian market for the final 2018 production year.

Of those 21 examples there were 5 units built in Shadow Black with 4 examples coming with no OTT stripes and they all were sold new in the U.S.

JR394 was 1 of those 4 Shadow Black vehicles coming with no OTT stripes and belongs to a friend of mine and was the last Base R model built over the 4-year production run.

The other Shadow Black vehicle was JR157 and I was very fortunate to get FOC to build an additional Base R model (it took some convincing) for the final model year but they finally agreed to my request and built a second car and ordered it with Kona Blue OTT stripes.

Are you saying you ordered Kona stripes in 2018?

Tony, good catch on the 2018 OTT stripes as they were Lightning Blue stripes for 2018 therefore thanks for catching my faux pas!

Had DIB stripes on my two 2015 cars, LB for my 2018 car but had Guardsman Blue stripes on my 2020 car.

With you being a Base R model owner (can quickly identify at least another ~25 members on this forum), I wanted to pass along some additional Base R information that may be helpful to you and others some of which you may already know.

Number of production years - 4

Number of vehicles produced - 135

Number of vehicles produced for the U.S. - 122

Number of vehicles produced for Canada - 13

Number of years for pre-production models (TT & PP) - 3

Number of pre-production Base R models produced - 13 (5 TT & 8 PP)

Number of pre-production Base R models for the U.S. -13 (Canada-0)

Number of pre-production Base R models by year - 2016 (10) 2017 (1) 2018 (2)

First and Last Base R model chassis numbers - F0001 and JR394

Production Date for F0001 - July 15th, 2015

Production Date for JR394 - April 23rd, 2018


Based on the above, anyone that has a pre-production Base R model has 1 of 13 examples.

Anyone that has a U.S. allocated Base R model that is not a pre-production vehicle has 1 of 109 examples.

Those that own a Canadian allocated Base R have 1 of 13 units produced.

Whatever the case, these Base R models are very rare and elusive.

Based on the chassis number for this 2018 GT350R Base R being JR368 along with some subsequent investigation, I suggest that your comment is correct that this 2018 GT350R was the 2nd to last Base R model built and was assembled a number of days prior to JR394.

Ahhh, I remember when this car, JR368, was for sale back in 2021. I tried to do a even swap with the selling dealer (Groove Ford) with my LR215, even when the prices were cuckoo, but they still wouldn't unless I added money. Sure would've been nice, but I've also enjoyed LR215.

Just consummated a deal today with the help of a close friend in the SW in order to sell JR157 to a young law enforcement officer from the State of NY.

Fired it up today after being away from JR157 for some ~3 years and it was something very special!

So happy that it is going to a terrific new home!

Just within the last 3 weeks a couple of car buddies reached out to me regarding letting their units go and believe each vehicle has ~20 miles on the odometer.
