Found this a while back sitting near the bottom of a shock tower. Any idea what it's from?

You probably did this, but I searched for "ecp-m14", thinking M14 being the thread size; it was.

It reads like a protector cap, to keep threads from being damaged while a part is in storage or transit.

Maybe, left from when the car was built? The engine bay is pretty dense and the line is moving fast.

Any maintenance or mods after purchase? From a new part?

Alternatively, someone ordered a bunch of free samples and likes to chuck them in engine bays at car shows. :giggle:

That type of plug is normally to protect female fittings / orifices of 'clean' systems from contamination during shipping / before fitment etc - maybe the size lines up with an AC or brake line component or fitting etc ?

Either way I wouldn't worry - that type of plug isn't meant to be a permanent addition, and they are normally in a bright colour so they are easy to spot.

That part might not even be related to your car. It could be a piece of road debris that was picked up while driving around.

Funny enough, I found the exact same plug sitting on top of my driver's side motor mount...or kinda near the bottom of the strut tower a few weekends ago!

Not 100% sure what it goes to. I haven't done anything to that side of the car beyond the Steeda Stainless clutch line, Steeda upgraded reservoir to clutch master line, and replaced my clutch master cylinder (which was when I found it). 🤷‍♂️ All 3 of those mods don't involve an orange plug like that. Must just be something leftover from the factory, as mentioned above!

That's exactly where I found mine!
