How was the general ride there? I was supposed to go but was concerned about getting to/from eastern virginia.
I drove from FL, so I came from the GA side. Roads were good, no floods or anything. Google maps said the entry of the Dragon was closed, but I called the resort and they said it was open. That’s why I decided to go, we were on our way to Gatlinburg, so an extra hr drive to go it was worth it.

Also it was middle of the week, so it was pretty empty. Be careful with the bikes, couple of them were too close to the middle of the road.

Thats normal for the bikes. You either have the Harley's that ride at or below the speed limit and won't use the pull offs, or the sport bikes tearing it up at Mach 1 speed and take their half in the middle, passing in blind curves, etc. That is why there is always multiple serious crashes on the road, some fatal every year... I ride it regularly as a local, and it always amazes me at some of the bone headed things I see every single trip...

I had a huge trip planned

va beach - Valdosta, ga -tail of dragon and back home through Asheville

storms screwed all of it

basically it was an unknown factor of how to get home. Go back the way I came or go to the north and around.

too many uncertainties for me )=

I wish I was local to the area. I really liked it…

Just passed it once and I can see why there are accidents. I’m sure the Mach 1 could’ve gone faster, even with the PS4S, those tyres didn’t chirped once.

At the end, it’s our own responsibility for safety.

Coming from Valdosta should be no issue. Going through Asheville might be the problem. But everything else seemed fine, I went from Atlanta to Marietta and then took 575, 74 and then 129 to the Dragon.
