Since I will have my whipple stage 2 3.0 off for installing thermal heat spacers, I figured I would send it off to be ported. Does anyone have a good recommendation?
Thanks for the help

Maybe someone like @RoadCone can chime in but I remember hearing it's not worth it if you're not going > 1000hp

That would be great. Kong Performance said I would expect to see 60-70WHP increase.

FYI Greg at Kong told me I would see that exact same gain on my Whipple 2.9 back when I was running that, so I paid him $1500 to port it. I saw virtually zero gain.

Unless you are pushing 1100-1200 WHP out of your 3.0 I would bet a substantial amount of money you will see no gain. I’m at 1059 WHP unported for what it’s worth and the blower is definitely not maxed out.

Good to know. Since the blower would be off I figured if it were of benifit I would do it. Before i decided to have it done, i would want back to back (within reason) dyno runs. But, i will ask Kong for that info and see what they say? Thanks

I don’t know how much power you’re making because your signature is longer than “War & Peace” lol. What are you shooting for power wise?

Also, FWIW, another Camaro owner had his ported (roughly 800 WHP) and at the same boost level, I make more power than him as well, so the Kong porting paid no benefits there. Again, once my car is above 1150-1200 WHP I may look at it then, but that 3.0 blower is simply a great unit right out of the box.

I just dynoed mine at 828whp at a lower 7300ish rpm. The dyno tech stopped at 7200 and 7300. I wanted him to run to 7800. This winter I run a 3.3 pulley 16lbsish boost and install a smooth boost controller. Should be around 900whp with controll at max. We will see. Later

Yeah so you’re not really close to maxing out that blower yet. Save your money for one of the many different other things that need beefing up at the 1K WHP level lol 👍

If i decide I want to go 1000+ I would just build a 1800hp ish engine and run it at 1100whp on the street by using the boost controller "IF" it works like advertised and probably move to a 3.8 whipple and beef up or install a transmission which can handle the added HP. But, for now I will see how it last at 900ish.

Whipple 3.0 can make 24-25 psi boost on a gen 3. Why port it? Unless your wanting 1100+ whp.

No, I am happy with 900whp for Traction is becoming my limiting factor and the pistons.
Do you happen to know the smallest pulley size on a 6 rib belt people are using without belt slippage becoming an issue? Just wondering. Thanks for your input.

No sir. I started having a slipping trans when I hit 16psi boost with a PDB. 700TQ.

So at 16lbs you started having transmission slippage? What was your fix, a Circle D converter or clutches and plates upgrade or both?
