I would feel better that they are sending out to be done. A custom upholstery shop will likely do it right and fix the issue the caused the tear. Dealers work at fast pace and tops are a delicate fix.

Depends. My car had a stitching error on the top and the dealer sent it down to top shop for replacement, who then proceeded to put a deep scratch on the rear quarter, requiring the dealership to repair that before I even got the car. The “custom” shop obviously didn’t drape the sheet metal with padded blankets, as I would have expected them to, so you just never know. Also, if you didn’t see my earlier post, my car is starting to exhibit the same issue as the OP’s. It’s just a crap design by Ford as the seal has a knife edge where the top slides along.

Hi Guys, here is the update : I dropped the car last Monday at the dealer and they were supposed to do the top replacement on site and give me the car after 3 days, which was Wednesday PM (yesterday). I called them this morning and it seems they need a part, they ordered it and it will take from 5 to 10 days to get it from the US :frown:.

Not so sure many have been produced and my top has been used hundreds of times in 3 years with no wear issues. I think it's just a mfg defect where they failed to finish the metal properly before painting.....it's all outsourced anyway probably some to the 750K strong American forced prison labor embedded corporate operations and other places with many new employees.

Hi guys
Last update: Ford installed the top and I picked-up the car yesterday. Everything seems good, I washed the top to make sure there is no leak and everything was fine.
One thing I want to mention: even if the top was just installed, there is no extended warranty; my warranty will still expire this December. Consequently, I am waiting for next autumn heavy rain (if there is one), to make sure that all is fine about the top.
Take care guys and thank you for all your inputs.

Just take it to wand wash and spray from all angles with wand tip 3' away. Take before and after pics. Check floors and trunk for water as well.
