I am looking at the airlift kit personally. I do want to lower my car but live off several jankedy roads. I also plan on doing autocross events, and hitting the strip. Can you pull more lateral g's with a good coilover setup, sure. But its not like air is going to make things WORSE than factory. There are just so many benefits that go beyond performance for me. And air technology is a lot more than what it was 10 years ago.

Agreed, may not be as good as a static system but pretty dang close. The other benefits make it very appealing. I will not be stretching my tires with the bead of the rim showing. I draw the line there lol

Quiet a few guys over on s197forum who run airlift and track and beat on their cars pretty hard with no complaints. .... a few 800+ hp cars as well that seem to hook just fine on air. A lot of real life car knowledge and no "vender protection" over there and I've not saw any disadvantages with air on a street/weekend track car, seems like they really like it for the most part.... Just sayin:shrug:

For you Diehards that think that an Air Ride is only for looks, you should do a little research because you'd be Wrong.

With coilovers and/or springs, you do get a lower stance, but Air Rides do it better and easier (no crawling under the car for one, just press the button).

There are a couple of pretty informative posts on this too (Sorry about it being a Camaro site, but just trying to help out).

Go to the Ride Tech site and you can learn and see A LOT before making a decision. I saw the Ride Tech Camaro at Rte. 66 (Good Guys car show Auto- X) and it went through the cones just as quickly as cars with coil overs and springs on them.

RideTech:

AccuAir:

http://www.accuair.com/late-model

Not too mention that if you wanted to take your date/wife/significant other out, you'd literally being riding on air and could make it comfortable (try riding in a Lexus LS or a Benz. I Guarantee there'd be NO complaints about the ride). Then if you wanted to go corner carving, just press the button and the suspension does what it's suppose to do. Best of Both worlds if you ask me.

Last, but certainly not least, the Cool Factor Blows away coil overs/springs because when you park it and drop it in the weeds, Everyone will look and also you'll have something not everyone else has (if you show your car).

Sorry for the long post...I'm done now! :D

I agree also, it seems airbag suspension is for looks only. I have friends that have bagged their trucks, only to see them have a multitude of problems with it. it seems that the stance movement has spread the use of airbag suspension and large wheels/stretched tires.

And "bagging" something is not the same ad buying a kit specifically for your car. I have seen some bagged trucks with home depot setups, and you have to understand the differences when comparing them to a kit. A kit will utilize harnesses, manifold valves, look much cleaner, and are designed for specific vehicles. The bagged truck scene is totally different.

Its all preference honestly and the market for guys who buy Air is typically different to the market of people who buy AST, JRi and Cortex.

yep,

that kinda covered my post. the one thing that you have to throw in is how much does the system weight and cost.. :)

i dont like it but that is just me. but, i would rather someone bag there car than slam it on coilovers then bitch that they dont ride well or last..

beers

I'm an active member on s197forum in the corner carving section and there isn't one single solitary member in that subforum that uses air suspension and tracks or autocrosses their car. Air is for hard parkers, any evidence to the contrary is pure propaganda generated by the companies that want to sell you said air ride system. Biggest drawback besides the added weight of the compressor is the fact that you cannot adjust spring rate. with a coil over system (or stock) you can just change springs if you need more or less spring rate. with air your stuck with what you got.

I'm a huge advocator of Air Lift suspensions. I ran their full kit on my 2008 GT500 and loved it. I'll be bagging my 2015 as soon as it arrives and the kit is available. Ride comfort and handling is great. It out performed any static setup I ever had. Not mention, you can't beat the versatility. No more taking inclines at an angle and no more scraping over speed bumps. If you can afford the price tag, it's a no brainer for me, just do it and don't look back.

Badass ride!

Spoke to the guys at Air Lift and they said they will be releasing the 2015 kits in May! Can't wait! I will def be purchasing this kit for mine. Cool show factor and increased performance over STOCK (not looking to make a pro race car here, just increased handling on the road and occasional track day). :headbang:
