When trying to shift to get the best 0-60 times, I noticed three issues on my manual 5.0 GT with PP:

1. Need to be in 3rd to get the built-in track-apps 0-60 acceleration timer to return a time. Going to 3rd gear quickly is a hassle as sometimes 3rd is easy to miss and you end up red-lining in 2nd. Is this a track-apps issue or do you really need to be in 3rd with 3.73 gears and the 19" wheels to get to 60 MPH? Somebody posted you should be able to hit 62 MPH in 2nd, but at what RPM? Note you have to shift before 6750 RPM, so at 6350 RPM, what is the speed in 2nd?

2. When I slowly let off the clutch while holding the accelerator at 5000 RPM, I expect the RPM to drop in the range from 3000 to 5000 RPM as the wheels spin a little and I adjust the clutch to get the least tire spin. However, if I just let the clutch out completely at 3000 RPM after starting at 5000 RPM when I first started to let the clutch out, the power is reduced from the engine for some reason and I get low torque from 3000-5000 RPM as compared to when I just let the clutch out at 3000 RPM initially without starting at 5000.

3. When shifting quickly to get good 0-60 MPH times, the gear stick broke off twice, and was on it's way to breaking a 3rd time. I was able to take a few pictures of it that I posted here:

I'm waiting for the dealer to fix the issue as it is the 3rd time I've been back for the same thing.

The first sign of an issue is when I can go into reverse without pulling up on the part marked below as (1). The next sign of the issue is when 3rd gear is slightly difficult to get into. Finally, the stick just falls off and the car gets stuck in whatever gear I was last in.

Where is the source of the metal fatigue?

I do not have a breakout diagram of the 2015 GT 6-speed shifter, but if I did, I would guess that something is bent/stripped and the locking screws/pins no longer hold the assembly. Since I make at least 3 shifts every time I have to stop at a red light or stop sign, I estimate I need to make at least 35 shifts per short trip to the store. The issue gets worse with more shifts. The dealer today told me they will replace the shift assembly and call me next week when the parts arrive. I drove my car out of there, shifting very slowly and carefully. Later today, I went to the store and on the way back, the shifter was very loose. I just made it to my house before the shifter was floating. I kept it in 3rd so that when I have to drive the car to the dealer next week, I can still go forward. However, that means I don't have a car on Saturday, Sunday, or Monday as I can't really go anywhere in only 3rd (no chance of reverse). Best chance is I get the issue fixed Tuesday.

I wonder if I can get a 'free' rental car while I wait?

If you have an extended service plan or added that 500 dollar charge to your financing you can. Typically the dealer you bought it from will provide a free loaner vehicle (not a enterprise type rental). If not, call the Ford Support line and through your CSM you should be able to get a free rental for your troubles since your car is so new.

I'm getting a free Enterprise rental/loaner on Monday when I take my car in for the brakes. And I didn't purchase my car from the dealer providing the loaner. Good luck.

jesus my question is if it was built to drive and enjoy with the track package why the hell would this happen not only once but 3 times.

Personally I think Ford should beef that part up.

OP how forceful are you shifting? There doesn't seem to be too many others who have experienced this issue (yet).

I was doing some quick shifting trying to get to 60 MPH so my track-apps would give me the best 0-60 time. I noticed reports of a 4.4 to 4.5 second 0-60, so I just had to try to accomplish it. Since I had to hit 3rd to get to 60 MPH with my 3.73 gears (to get track-apps to return a time), there were a few times I missed 3rd (maybe just a little to the left of it) and fear the speed of my shift may have caused something to get loose. Unfortunately, once it broke, even with slow, calm, and granny-like shifts, the stick just keeps breaking after it is fixed, so it's not as easy as a loose screw. I'll call the dealer where my car was getting serviced at and see if I am eligible for a free rent-a-car.

Yikes! I think thats a serious safety issue that could warrant a completely new car because it could have resulted in injury or worse.. I hope it all works out for ya.

The first time I called, after being transferred to a service advisor and waiting 4 minutes, somebody just picked up the phone and put it back down so they didn't have to take the call. The second time I called, I had to leave a voice message with "Kyle". In my 3rd call, I verified the service shop is open until 5PM today and left a message with a different service advisor asking about the loaner car.

Although the car is parked at my house now and stuck in 3rd, I could drop it off at the dealer (who is currently open) if they require me to leave the car there to get a rental. I just don't want to drive there with my car limping to make it, then be told I can't get a loaner car. So I guess I will just wait for them to call me back before doing anything...

Just called again since nobody called me back, still went to voicemail. I'm probably not going to get a loaner car....

Either you are shifting ultra-F*ing hard or the new MT-82 shift is flawed. The old, stock MT-82 shifter would never be able to do that very easily! In everything I've driven, even the cheap POS stock shifter of the old T5, it would take quite a bit of force to actually beak it. And, rightly so, it should take quite a bit to actually break the thing!

So, wtf
