I need assistance on have a 21 mustang Gt convertible, it started making that popping sound around November. It doesn't happen all the time but when I'm backing out of my parking spot at work turning left it does. The dealership replaced some bearings on the frame but it's still doing it, they heard the noise 1 time from the dealership but couldn't seem to duplicate it. What should I do?
Look into SSM50672 or it could be under MC-10210245-0001 which covers 2018-2022 which states:

"SSM 50672 - 2018-2022 Mustang (Non-Shelby) - Clunk/Pop Noise When Turning
Some 2018-2022 Mustang vehicles (Non-Shelby) and built at Flat Rock Assembly may experience a clunk/pop type noise when turning the steering wheel. This may be due to an incorrectly installed upper spring seat which is part of the front strut assembly. To correct this condition, remove the suspect strut(s) from the vehicle and inspect the upper spring seat for damage and/or incorrect installation and repair as necessary. Refer to Workshop Manual, Section 204-01. For claiming, use casual part 18124 and the applicable labor operations of Section 03 of the Service Labor Time Standards (SLTS) Manual. APPLICABLE VEHICLES 2018 - 2022 CAR: ZG S550N MUSTANG
"

Also look into (dont remember the member who brought it up in this thread I believe):

"My 21 GT500 had this problem. Car would pop during hard lock. I tightened my tower brace and it went away. I month later it came back, the brace was no longer tight. I put Loctite on the bolt and tightened to spec. The popping never came back. The brace will come loose because the bolts are painted."

I had mine checked for the above and found to be loose, have not had a chance to test the results of this fix yet, hope to test it this weekend.

Updating as for my issue, the tightening of the tower brace did not eliminate my issue, I will be letting my service guy know, but at this point unless they want to figure it out after driving season they can but for now I am not wasting anymore time during driving season.

Anyone that does get it fixed and its something other than what has been posted, by all means let us know.

No worries brother. I hope it works for you. So far so good for my car. Thanks to my service guy and his suspension guy for not giving up on it like the last couple of people I've had try to locate and fix the issue.
Welp i got my car back about 1.5 months ago, they said they re-torqued something by the firewall, I paid attention for the 1st few days didn't hear it so paid no more attention until July 16th heard it again. I took my car back they are saying " we can't duplicate it", they rode with me 1.5 months ago and heard it why does it need to be duplicated. I have it on recording so I called Ford and opened up a case and they have reached out to Akins, we shall see what happens might have to take it to another dealership.

Let me know how this turns out I might have to go this route, but from what I know Ford will in the end offer to buy it back claiming its a frame weld issue, but I'm curious what they say to you, if its the same thing we all have been complaining about.

I sure will keep you posted. If they decide to buy it back they better find me a brand new GT convertible but not the new style. I think I would much rather them buy it back than to keep dealing with this. I bought this one brand new during covid and of course the price was outrageous, it was for my 40th birthday.

I got mine during covid as well, 8/2020 and mine is still an open ticket, I purposely told my service manager and guy to write it that way in my account so its an ongoing unsolved issue so it can finally be repaired under warranty if ever. But no Ford will not buy back my car, they can take it fix it and then give it back to me and either give me a loaner for all that time, or pay for my time of loss of use of a $90K car, but they cant buy it back only to sell it to another person for a huge discount. I've lost a year over all with this car because of this issue.

Wow! No, mine will get fixed or I will get an attorney, I have OCD bad and it kicks in every time when it comes to my car and this issue. I've gotten the owner of the dealership involved before and I will again if I have too. I will definitely fight them in court, I have 35,000 miles on it.

What all have they done to yours? I wouldn't feel safe driving it, what if something breaks and you're on the highway??!!! That's what scares me because I go at least 85 on the highway

Well In short you name it its been done, but just to give you a short list:

Steering shaft 5x (Upper and Lower)
Steering shaft bolt
Steering Asy 2x
Yolk Asy 5x
Strut mounts in front retightened and blue thread locked.

x = denotes the amount of times its been replaced in 3 yrs.

There is a video I believe in this thread of another member recording it, but at this point everyone knows what it sounds like and what to do to make it happen.

As far as safety, I have had my guys check every inch, there is nothing lose or broken and the car does not act funny or erradically at any speeds up to 127mph (that I have tested) so at this point I dont see it a safety issue, but clearly puzzling. I've also come to terms as i am never driving the car with the steering hard locked to the left so I've chalked it up to the a gremlin in the car that will more than likely never be found unless the car is stripped apart.

That is a lot of work, I will see what they do and go from there either atty or get rid of it

Were you able to get one of the mechs to ride with you this last time, Sonia? Seems like that would accomplish the goal, assuming you can make the car repeat the problem.
