My Dealer has two Mustangs on his lot I would like to buy. However neither has NAV, but they are both GT Premiums with the MFT. Does anyone know if the NAV could be added to the car by the Dealer. I would think that the Head Units are the same....maybe it would need a program change and the map SD card?

It could be possible but also probably expensive. I have seen YouTube videos of someone adding Garmin Navigation to MyFordTouch so there might be some aftermarket options they may be able to do as well.

There is a video of adding to a MFT on a Ford Edge I posted in another thread. The dealer can't/won't do it, however. I regretted not getting Nav on my '14 fusion, so this time around it was Nav or nothing. You're dealer should also be able to find one with Nav for you if you really want to buy from that specific dealer.

Isn't just an SD card if you have MFT? It's when you don't have MFT that it's a pain in the neck...

It's more than a SD Card. You need an additional module installed in the radio, the GPS puck and antenna cable.

This is 100% possible, ther is a company here in Fl. That does a module exchange with their software loaded for Nav. If interested in company info just pm me.

The non Nav cars do have GPS, you can go to the information screen and it will show your lat/longs. I'd bet you could enable nav with a simple firmware hack, achieving it is the tough part.

Nope, not all of the hardware is present. I'm too lazy to look it up for you, but search for a Ford Edge nav upgrade on youtube. Or find the other thread on this subject where I posted. The Edge starts with MFT, but there is additional hardware needed as well, not just the SD card.

Factory Nav can be added to MFT with a simple Apim exchange. PM me for details.

Even the cars with only the basic Sync system have the GPS reciever. It's used to provide turn by turn directions with Sync Services and to transmit your location when 911 Assist is activated.

It really doesn't make sense from a manufacturing standpoint that the actual MTF unit would require a module to make the nav work. The cost of inventorying and controlling two MTF units would exceed the cost savings of not having the hardware in all units.

The whole world has gone to the concept of standard hardware with features being turned on and off in software.

I already have Nav, but what all is involved for others?
