Race Red GT owner here. Got my first speeding ticket in 5 years. (Not proud of it) oh well there is a first time for everything.

The cop was super nice and kind. So the cop pulls me over and first thing he does is compliments on how gorgeous the car looked. Then he went on and said "I know it's a 2015 stang, new one, haven't seen one on the streets yet and I know you were probably testing it out a little but please be careful next time"
I respect the authorities more when they treat you nice like a human being and not give you attitude even when you are being respectful.

Conclusion is I knew I was at fault for 5 seconds and those 5 seconds cost me almost $200. I still feel the cop was way too far from me when I did speed up for those 5 seconds but oh well I didn't feel like arguing with him and accept it was my fault. I went 26 over the highway speed limit..

Am I the first one here to get a speeding ticket in the new mustang? :headbonk:

Nope! I got one on December 5, and apparently wasn't the first either.

I was tooling along, minding my own business... I see the motorcycle cop pull out behind me with his lights on and think "ooh, I had better get out of his way - he is clearly after somebody!"

I was completely surprised when he pulled over with me. He says "did you know that you were going 47 in a 25 zone?"

Umm.... no. I thought I was going 47 in a 45 zone.

He says "did you also not notice that this is a construction zone"

Umm... no.

He says "22 miles over in a construction zone carries a $520 fine. May I have your license and proof of insurance?"

Umm... shit.

Long story short, he came back and said that he was going to call it 20 over, and ignore the construction zone, which would reduce the ticket to $160. I went in last Monday and pleaded "No Contest". The judge cut the fine in half, so 80 bucks out the door.

Could have been worse, I guess, but I had only had the car for 10 days... I still had the temporary tags on it!

I have worked hard to avoid speeding.

One thing I have noticed is 70mph seems like 50mph. The car is so quiet. Plus my 2011 had 3.73 gears so I could hear the engine revving as the speed got higher. With the basic package the engine seems to be barely turning.

It's not the fine that hurts it's the higher insurance rates that follows.

This! But, in FL if you dispute the ticket then you will be fine. My last ticket was 2 years ago. I was driving from Miami to Tampa through alligator alley. There was no one on the road so I was going around 100 mph. All of a should I see a Ka pop up on my V1. I test out the brembos and drop down to 70 mph. The trooper pulls me over and told me that I was clocked at 101 mph from the plane above. Sucks!!! However, I paid the ticketclinic.com and they got my ticket dismissed and the points removed. All I had to do was take the driving course.

A few years ago this happened to my friend as well, they got him at 104 about halfway down the alley by plane as well.

Not a safe place to speed apparently :eyebulge:

That's funny. I got 105 in a 65, actually slowing down from much faster (hey it was the first day with a new pulley and tune on the tvs). I was arrested (released with my license as bond at the site) and charged with criminal wreck less operation. Luckily, the DA helped me out. All I did was ask to decrease it to a non felony.

For military no poins are ever added. Have had plenty of tickets and insurance has never gone up for me.just pay the fine and go on your way. But some buddies of mine are not military and they get raped with insurance

Ex Florida, Collier County traffic cop,
If you had to go to traffic school, your ticket wasn't dismissed. Dismissed means it never happened..you don't pay a fine, you don't do school. You didn't get any deal paying the theifs at ticket clinic!
You could have gone in Yourself and asked for a withhold adjudication with traffic school. I emplore you to go into traffic court one day and watch just what they do (ticket clinic lawyers) they have a stack of 50 tickets and go through them as quick as they can, asking the officer for a break, they both look at your record, if it's spotless, maybe a deal where you pay a bigger fine and traffic school, (plus you're paying ticket clinic).
Just go in yourself and ask the cop nicely for a reduced fine, orally amend the speed, or at least a withold.
If you get another 30+ over, don't even expect anything but suspension in Collier.

I'm not quite sure what you're talking about, I was in the military for 20 years, and always presented my military ID when the cop asked for license and registration, as well as when in court, and I always got hit with points unless that jurisdiction had some sort of alternative training to make more money... then they would not take out points.

In CA you can go to traffic school (or take an online course) in order to avoid any points on your license. I think it's once every 18 months that you are allowed, or maybe once every three years. It costs a little extra, but worth it. Also helps to be respectful and courteous to the cops, who will usually be considerate in return as long as you weren't doing something totally stupid. I've never gotten totally out of a ticket, but I've had couple occasions where the officers have written me up for a little less than they needed to. The biggest issue is typically the time involved rather than the fine itself, but it's a reasonable gesture.

In any event, drive carefully and stay awake and aware out there.

I have one speeding ticket. I've been pulled over for speeding at least ten times. Be nice and deferential and courteous and cops are usually nice back. At least here; cops have better things to do than catch speeders. I know in rural areas they try to write tickets for revenue generation.
