I don't see any advantage to running those "race" tires over a drag radial. They aren't bad choices but they have stiffer sidewalls and don't come in great sizes.
It depends. Pirelli rs are "race " tire like you mentioned and they have an extreme soft sidewall.
I feel that on the street you don't go just in straight line tho.
That is where I think is the mistake.
I'm sure all of us did some "spirited " driving where grippy tires come very handy.
A nice sidewall give you a precision feeling on turning.
But again. I did tried both (on the street too) so I can compare.
I feel sometime we just assume things based on "i heard about".
These tires brake better. Turn better. Grip better and they are decent in wet.
I mean. Isn't what we are looking for a tire?

Personally I don't find nittos any better then a good street tire. My old street bfg kdw would 60 the same as my nitto radials. The kdw was the best non drag radial I ever ran. To bad they aren't made anymore.
Put a mickey radial on it and be done, night and day difference
Have you ran the MT, ET-SS while boosted on the street?

I have 17x10 VMS Wheels with 305/45/17 Mickey Thompson ET Street Rs. 60-degree weather and they'll dead hook in 2nd from a 40 roll (700rwhp with 3.73s). I don't plan on daily driving on them due to trying to save them for the drag strip, but I am really impressed how they do on the street. They're not aired down either and no burnout required. At least from a roll they don't.
So the MT ET-SS stick hard on the street and still corner good?

Ok. An extra reason why use these 200tw :)
If your talking about me, I want max dry condition straight line and cornering. Just because I don't track it doesn't mean I don't want the grip when turning, maneuvering et.

Driven both the MT and Nitto on the street and 1/4 mile.. both are good but most important to me is the Nittos balance better and run truer… much better ride over MT… had my best 60’ with the Nitto 1.57 stock converter A10.

Don't we all. You're at a power level that no tire compound alone will provide that. Way too many variables. Pavement type, temps, oils, surface finish etc.. so tire construction has to be considered as well to get the job done

Weight transfer on a softer sidewall for the straights, opposite for the turns. There is no one stop shop. Thus many ( and you) have to accept limitations to meet 80% of their driving needs or buy separate wheels/tires.
