Question about the rocker panels...

I can tell this subforum is mostly detailing-focused, so I hope I'm not junking the place up with this question:

I bumped a rock near my driveway. There is no visible damage to my car, but it pushed on the side moulding (the black plastic thing, do we call it a splitter or whatever?) in such a way that it popped the metal side panel off.

When it happened I pushed the panel back on and went about my business, making a mental note to deal with it later. It's kind of drooping a millimeter or two, now, so I guess the time has come.

One or two of the plastic fasteners broke, and I'm not looking at it right now, but there's some kind of interstitial plastic part that appears to have come unglued or something.

I tried to get my eyes on a diagram with part numbers to determine what I need to fix everything, but all I can find are the $800 panels themselves, listed under "aperture panel" or something. The painted part is still cosmetically perfect. I just need a handful of new fasteners, and either a new one of those plastic parts that hides in there, or advice on how to secure the one I've already got. I assume there's a specific, appropriate adhesive.

Anyone know what I'm talking about and have the answers?

Check ebay, they sell kits with multiple types of fasteners that aren’t too expensive. If you were close I would check my kit.

I can find the whole part on eBay, but all the fastener kits appear to be related to the black plastic skirt. Looking was a good idea, though, because I have a perfect photo of what I'm talking about, from a part listing.

That black plastic has come loose, which is the primary problem, and I need at least one, or maybe two of those white things poking through it.

I'm getting the impression these aren't separate parts, as far as Ford is concerned. If I want a tiny plastic clip I need a whole new panel.

I may be forced to go without a replacement for the broken fastener, which might be OK if I can figure out a good way to secure the plastic backing to the painted part, again.

2-part epoxy may be the answer. Rough up the contact areas with some sandpaper, apply the epoxy and clamp it up the best that you can to hold it while it sets. If it doesn't work, you're back to sourcing a replacement. Why in the world they design these cars to snap together like Legos is beyond me.
