Another thing to note about a pre 2017 car is that the road tax is just over 3x more expensive than a 2017-2018 car. When I bought mine that was a major consideration as was getting sync 3 as I wanted android auto. According to total car check road tax on the vehicle you linked is £695. A 2017 car is £180, cant remember the exact dates they changed the tax rules but something to bare in mind!
Yeah I did look into this but pricing is higher and if I factored in the oil cooler mod it + exhaust change was becoming quite pricey for what I had in mind. But will definity keep an eye on any new 2017 ones

think the tax change was apr 2017 and anything under 40k as bought was the lower tax, my May 2017 is under the 14quid a month (which i had no idea about at the time just a total fortunate fluke in my favour which happens oh so very rarely)

Hi,

I'm new member and hopefully soon will become a Mustang GT owner.

I have come across a car in autotrader that has very low miles (20k) but has the attached MOT failure. Owner mentions that adjustable Coilovers were fitted, I will need to ask if this was done as a consequence of failing the MOT or if it was beforehand. Hence it makes me a bit concerned of how the car has been looked after looking at the MOT. Otherwise the car looks immaculate from the pictures and has full service ford history. Any advise would be welcomed :)

Thank you

I had a 2016 as my previous mustang. A couple things to watch out for that I experienced: 1: the A/C will have problems. It'll either be the compressor or the evaporator, but it will happen eventually. 2: The bushings on the car tend to wear out rather quickly if you're doing any form of motorsport. 3: The paint is complete crap. Mine was Guard green which was proven to be bad from the factory, but I had multiple friends that had other 15-16 who complained about paint chips.

BUT! Even with all of those issues I loved the car. It drove great and always surprised me how much it could handle. I would do it all over again! Enjoy the car if you get it!

Thats reassuring so hear! Thanks for sharing those tips!

This is why I'm getting more and more convinced about buying a Mustang, as all the owners seem to reflect how great car and fun to drive is overall!

The s550 mustangs are genuinely great handling cars. Sure they can be heavy, but I've beaten several porsche and corvette owners on the track :). Just be mindful of the A/C as that is rather expensive to replace, but honestly all of the there issues are personal preference and driving style.

Of course if the op had an HR 350 then they're already used to paying the higher road tax band.

Welcome to the forum, Simon. The car you're considering looks like a really nice example with some good upgrades. Mustangs are absolutely brilliant, I think you'll really enjoy the car.

@350zeta

I think that looks like a nice well maintained car :like:

I can't comment on the value or if its priced right, it's not something I keep an eye on.

Just be warned - I think for most people (certainly those that frequent this forum, even the daily drivers) a Mustang isn't something you just buy and use like a 'normal' car.

Either out of choice or by necessity, there always a small (sometimes large :frown:) job, tweak or modification going on somewhere ... lol

Factor that into your budget when buying into Stang ownership :like:

I do - it is just a Mondeo with a V8 isn't it?

A very impractical one at best … :giggle:

Big boot, folding seats - I've carried wood, bricks, a bookcase and all sorts in it. I love going somewhere and buying stuff to watch people's faces when it all goes in the car!

Did you turn off the A/C on the track? I'm just asking since you mention it going kaput and track in the same paragraph.

Yes, the A/C was completely off during any track time, including spirited mountain driving. It's a known issue that the 15-17 a/c components are crappy and destroy themselves under normal operating conditions lol!

Did you buy the car in the end, if not I'm thinking about selling up, 2018 manual 5.0 colour magnetic and only 2150 miles on her, other bits added aswell including Velgen Wheels.
