Read the article and It’s hard to beat the efficiency of electric vehicles when there is nothing like the need for drive trains, heating/cooling assist and many other thing ICE engines need to operate and make a vehicle comfortable.
Except battery packs need to be cooled. They also need to be heated in winter.

Hello; Also need a heat source for the cabin in cold weather. One thing I have learned to look for is to get a heat pump interior type heater over a resistance wire type heater. Heat pump is more complex but uses some less of the battery charge to keep you warm in winter. Resistance heat is cheaper but drains a lot of battery charge.

Agreed
Edit: I accept that EVs are the future I have accepted that like many of us do. What folks like you, myself, @sk47 and others we don’t want is the agenda behind them. I think that’s also a fair argument. Only time will tell if we are truly the crazy ones.

Hello; Did a quick read. Found many things of interest. Thanks. Need to see if some follow up material can be found.
Thats the thing, most of the real data he alludes to is gone. At least from easily searchable areas.

Hello; Hope i am not putting wrong words into your comment. EV's may get all the bugs worked out an become the next great thing. They still need a lot of refinements. That is not the problem.

The problems fall around a need for those in power to have near total control over us. Got a good taste for it during covid and liked it. but it existed long before Covid. Climate change scares with EV's and green energy are only a few of the "tools" used to help push the control agenda.

There is a fiction book titled OUR DOGS DID NOT BARK which comes close to identifying the pulse of this power grab thing. Only fiction but reading it helped in understanding what I see day to day.

I don’t think that many of us will still be alive when the full implementation of 100% EV only rules take effect and what that will usher in. That’s about a good 40+ yrs away. None of us will see what that world will look like. Being what I did for the US gov, and being a man of faith I have an idea. But that’s a different conversation for a different forum and day.

Hello; True i will not make a dent in 40 years. Not even close. I will not see the final outcome of that particular agenda. I will keep barking.

In the Motor Trend article they account for those losses in measuring the efficiency of the EV. Also, the most recent battery packs have thermal management built into the battery pack, so they self heat and self cool. Minimal efficiency losses to achieve this. Cabin heat is another thing and there are several approaches. Heat pumps seem to be the most popular choice and the race is on to make them more and more efficient.

I hear what you’re saying. Personally I doubt that Zero Emissions mandates will spread much further than they are now. Once we get to 2035 and it’s clear that ICE needs to be maintained at some level for those who do not have ready access to charging, new states will be less likely to adopt the full range of the mandates set by other states.

There is no argument in the efficiency of a battery to electric motor vs any ICE.

The grey area comes from where the energy was produced, even then the EV wins in this situation.

You will be dead. But it will be here a LOT sooner than 40+ years.

You’re right I will be and thank God for that little miracle. But I don’t think it’ll be sooner.

PS I giggled a little cause I knew the pun behind it😂👊🏼

2063 at the rate we are going?

I think things are moving much faster than you can comprehend or willing to admit.

What is the "agenda"?

Even if you are right about this, it still won't make you sane. lol
