plasti dipped
It's been awhile since I've bought a spray can of the stuff so the OP can chime in there but any home improvement store should sell them in a variety of colors. They are definitely less than $10 a can. It is extremely easy stuff to use and the best part is it just peels off if you don't like it.Where do you get this plasti dip???
How does it work?
How hard was it to do this?

First coat is usually just a light coat to give the additional layers something to adhere to. I wait about 30-45 minutes between coats (when it's ~75 degrees outside) and for something like this 4-5 coats should do the trick. 1 can would be plenty. Just make sure you do it in a well ventilated area, this stuff has a pretty mean smell.
It's a rubberized coating so no, it shouldn't chip off. It was originally meant to coat the handles of tools and such so it's pretty durable. If you scrape against it hard enough it may leave a surface scratch but you can always just spray another coat over it and it'll look good as new. The more coats you have the better off you are. I had the entire exterior of my car plastidipped for the better part of a year and I had no issues with chipping or peeling.Great... does it chip off if you scrape against it while reaching over the engine bay? If it just peels off easily, not sure how durable it is.
