Does anyone here happen to have an sizeable/incredible knowledge on the adoption process for an animal?
I cannot discuss much openly for one reason, but I can continue in DM's with anyone well versed.

Basic overview: Said animal is not available for adoption to the public for a certain behavioral issue that DOES NOT SEEM APPROPRIATE. Said issue can be treated at home, with specialized specific help, or entirely bypassed with specific at-home care with specialists, all of which I am able to provide for physically and financially.

I only have a this week + next week to see this through before it's too late, immediate help would be incredibly beneficial.

You may try reaching out to a rescue group on facebook or online and see if they can help you. It would seem they would facilitate that on a regular basis. My apologies if you've thought of that.

I will try that. I'll be contacting the shelter first to see if I can do absolutely anything in adopting her. If not, I'll try to reach out to my local rescue organizations.

If anyone else has ideas, please put forth 😭

^^^ I too was trying to figure out what “animal”…

By the post, I was also assuming the “adoption” part would be trying to get it from a “kill” kennel?

Can any more info be posted?

Alright, I tried my best to try and get her, but no dice. They seem really adamant in putting her down. They've never said it directly, but I've worked in animal shelters long enough to understand their lingo.

The dog's name is Coco, a 100 lb Great Pyrenees mix, at the SPCA of Texas' Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center, located in Dallas, Texas.
Address: 2400 Lone Star Dr, Dallas, TX 75212

Here's a video of her: Meet Coco! This 101 lbs. of love is a Pyrenees Mix, and 5 years old! As you can see in the video her back side is shaved, because of some really bad... | By New Country 96.3 | Facebook

I drove over there this past Saturday, and while I was there, I was able to pull off some information from their system.

She has had previous owners--those owners had smaller dogs that did not get along with her. In the latest case, there was a unmentioned tiny dog (about 20 to 30 lbs, or even less?) that semi-fought with her. When the owner intervened, Coco had "bit" her, but without breaking the skin--attempting to pull her away from the smaller dog.

She is incredibly sweet, but they refused to allow me to see her at all, saying she is separated out for everyone's safety. While my current dog and I were both there to interact with two other dogs, they brought out Coco for her normal routine... for interacting and playing with other dogs... some of which were barely half her size...

I've attempted to adopt her, but no avail. I've offered everything I can--signing away any liability towards them, offering behavior specialist services on my dime, and more. But they won't budge.

She is a really sweet girl, and she oddly seemed to be the only dog my own Pyrenees seemed to be interested in. She barely played with the other two dogs brought in, and kept looking at Coco. Even did her own "signature whine" that only comes out when she wants to meet/interact with another dog badly.

If you guys can do absolutely anything, I would be grateful.
Hell, even if someone manages to adopt her for me, and then have her transferred to me, I will pay for any associated fees you had to pay to SPCA, pay for the gas for transport, PLUS clean up any messes she may have made in your home for free--I'll bring my own equipment to take care of it.

What’s the actual issue? I’m assuming you’ve spoken to a manager. They posted a video which I’m assuming to have her adopted. I will say some of the worst ….. I’ve dealt with were individuals that claimed they were there to aid these animals with getting new homes and having a good life. I’m a big dog person, like smaller as well, just a preference(dobies all my life). What doesn’t. Ake any sense is if there wanting to put her down then why haven’t they. I think I’d start blowing up there own facebook page.

Coco will not be up for adoption, due to "behavioral issues with existing pets."
What she didn't mention: Those pets were much smaller than Coco (100 lbs vs 20-30 lbs), and the smaller dogs were picking on Coco, just about what I've seen almost any other smaller dog do as well.

I couldn't get her, because I already have a dog, and they will not let her out to anyone with pets (my dog is 90 lbs vs Coco being 100 lbs). Even with arguing that I will take her to behavior specialists (even though I 100% know that is unnecessary), they do not want to let her go, and insist on putting her down (internal documentation + speech patterns compared to my experience working with animal shelters).

And despite this "behavioral issues with existing pets," I have seen Coco playing with other dogs within their fenced in areas during my stay. I could not find any other reason for why they're putting her down.
My only assumption is due to her size--no one in the area seems to be wanting large dogs.
Yup, that is her. She had been adopted from the location twice, and both times returned, because the owners were incompetent.

That’s a shxtty deal. There are few things in life that make me angrier then incompetence. One for sure is incompetence mixed with animals. I stand by I’d blow there page’s up with it though. It’s funny how all these organizations are nice and want to be your best friend when there hands are out and trying to get your money, and after its a whole different deal.

That's pretty rotten... that they would not allow the dog to be adopted out because of THEIR beliefs and reasons to XYZ? That's BS.

You should reach out to PETA and SPCA to report them and their tactics... send those sites all the info you have about their actions and what you tried to do to adopt the dog. It goes to question how many other animals have they put down or denied adoption to those that were willing because of THEIR reasoning which may not be in the best interest of the animal???

I get it, there's kill and no-kill kennels and not all can be saved due to space or true factual knowledge or examination of animal's behavioral capacity.... BUT when you have people like the OP who's willing to go above and beyond, plus willing to sign off waivers of liability - that's disgusting that the facility and faculty there would not let the OP adopt the dog - that was as mentioned - advertised for adoption. Why place any animal on their site for adoption, deny adoption, then just kill it - just because??!!??

I'd report that place based on the OP's info.
