Well, I've played the dealer game for the last month or so and have unfortunately been unsuccessful in locating a GT500 (Track/Handling Pack) at sticker. This feat was going to be nearly impossible, which I understood, but tired to be optimistic in thinking I might come across a little luck. However, things like this lead you into opportunities and situations that you really weren't expecting and this is why I'm curious of your opinion(s).

I've loved my '17 Oxford White GT350. Have had the pleasure of putting 30,000 *smiles* on this car since new and it has not missed a beat. I will miss it. However, I am eager to get into a GT500 and I know someone else will certainly get the joy and fulfillment I did in listening to the harmony of these machines, flat out, at 8K.

So, this brings me to the all important question...how would you all assess this deal I've come across:
  • 2021 Carbonzied Gray
  • Mileage: ~4,000
  • Options: Handling Tech, Recaro, CF Dash and Vinyl Stripes
  • Condition: 9.9/10
  • Extra's:
    • Full front end PPF
    • Ceramic coated
    • Steeda Subframe braces
    • Steeda GT500 Billet rear vertical links
    • Steeda IRS alignment dowels
    • Steeda IRS bushing supports
    • Steeda low profile jacking rains
    • JLT Intake
  • Price: $86,000
A few additional costs will come into play (flight, transport, etc), but overall, I'm confident that getting into this kind of used vehicle with a few basic and tasteful updates/changes, is right in line with the market and is fair for both sides. PPF is huge for me and I'll likely add on the remainder of the car.

Overall, I know this topic can be subjective in a multitude of ways and with the uncertainly surrounding the GT500, I'd rather not miss the boat. This will be a DD and I'll put roughly 6-9k miles on the car per year. I have everything essentially finalized at this point and even though Gray was not my first choice in color, for the price and purpose of what this car will be utilized for, I think the stars have somewhat alligned.

Either way, what're your thoughts?

Ultimately the buyer has to be happy with the deal - in this case you.

The car looks to be setup for track duty and if that's what you're interested in go for it. If you're looking for a daily driver you don't need all those extra track toys and save yourself some money somewhere else.

Assuming you can get $50k+ for your GT350 it seems like a reasonable upgrade to me.

In today's market, considering the additional upgrades, it seems like a fair deal.
You will love the GT500 as a DD!

How bad do you want it? It’s not about the money, the car will depreciate eventually, it about if you can afford it and the enjoyment you will have from owning a beast. Price seems fair I sold my 2020 GT500 for 88,000 6 months ago. Completely different experience than a GT350, well worth the try.

Good Luck !!!!!

I've pretty much missed the boat on acquiring above $50k for the 350 (IMO). Right now, even though average retail is around $50K with that kind of mileage, I think realistically, trade in would be around $44-$45K and if I'm patient, could hold out and maybe get $48-$49K.

The GT500 won't be tracked in my case and I do agree, the extra's aren't a necessity, but ya never know. I think overall, the expense of PPF is already taken care of and if I sacrifice a little on the 350 and am in line with the purchase price of the 500, everything kind of balances out.

Need? Nope lol! Want? Absolutely!

It's just one of those situations where you're trying to time things out appropriately. As you mentioned, it's going to depreciate, but to what extent we'll never know. Could probably put another 10-15k on the 350 and it might not matter as much.

But, given the uncertainty of everything, I'm in the opinion of it's now or never. I think the demand for these cars is going to be here to stay for a bit or at least another year.

I don't think they'll depreciate that much if at all. Maybe a tiny bit the next year or two as the economy and market trend down, but after that I can't see them having any meaningful depreciation.

I’m going to guess it’s been tracked pretty hard. If you‘re ok with that go for it. I would never buy it without driving it first. Especially with modifications.

So this car basically has a “stop the hop” kit on it. By no means does this mean the car was tracked. My GT500 and prior GT have never seen a track but I have the same mods as it helps with street traction.
With the work done I’d say this is a pretty good deal based on current market prices.

I'm with you there. I think they will adjust slightly, but not much for me to feel bad about moving forward with what I've dialed up at this point.

It hasn't been tracked at all. Other than just some tasteful support aspects, I think overall, once I put a few test miles on her, she'll feel perfectly fine.

Agreed. Appreciate the input. Exactly what I was curious to hear or to determine whether I was missing anything.

Great information. How would you compare street ride quality? I’m old. Not that old but I don’t like harsh.

This low mileage car just sold for MSRP plus a buyer fee of about 4500 or so. You should be able to find a 21 at or near MSRP, especially this time of year. Good luck.
