I was getting comments on my alternator thread about not driving in cold weather.heres s link to thread on subject thread

https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/th...-driving-their-car-in-colder-weatskating.onl/

Basically if you have the Michelin summer tires they say not drive under 45 because the rubber turns into hockey pucks.i tried in with my 10 Shelby and it was like ice skating.only had 550hp not much more than ours
Here's another thread from manufacturer

Hello; The money is no object answer is to have a set of summer tires/wheels and a set of winter tires/wheels.
Guess a third option is to have an all-season tire.

And here I am with 4 complete mounted sets of wheels and tires for various purposes. From studded snows to rain tires to 2x autocross dry weather sets.

Depends how cold it gets there. At 40° summer tires are fine. I'd be more careful going wot until they are heated up but I've been driving on them for the last 4 winters. My car gets parked outside unless it drops onto the 30s over night. Then I steal the garage to keep the tires from getting too cold. Pretty sure lowest temps I've driven to work at were about 28°. No issues but I definitely wasn't driving hard at those temps.

I have a set of summer wheels and tires and a set of winter wheels and tires. I replaced the all season tires on the winter wheels with snow tires this year. Much easier time in the single digits and snow we have.

As far as storage, I solved that using Belle Tire's service. In the fall, they get my summer wheels and tires out of storage and put them on the car and the winter wheels and tires go back to their storage system until the fall.

I live in central Florida and it will not get above the low 40’s until Monday, so my Mustang is going to stay In the garage. In 2019, a couple weeks after getting my PP1 GT, I had to drive up to Atlanta for the sale of my townhome. When I left the hotel for the closing, it was right around 32 degrees and it was like driving on packed snow.

Best option is a vehicle you don't care about for winter driving. At least in areas that they use salt on the roads, if that isn't an issue 2 sets of wheels is cheaper than a waded up car anyday.

As long as you don't get the car wet, you won't have any corrosion issues. I'm blown away how fun these cars are in cold weather with winter tires. The only thing I don't like is how long they take to warm up and drop the idle down, lol.

The salt gets everywhere and you get it wet when you wash it even if you never run through a puddle or rain.
Yes high hp vehicles are fun in the snow, cold weather, and why mine is a 335hp v8 powered winter vehicle. fun, but if someone takes it out. MEH. If I was not planning on keeping the stang for decade+ , I'd wheel it in the snow. but salt kills. save a life..

I've dry driven mine in the winter occasionally coming on 3 years now, and the bottom still looks new. My beater goes out when the weather is supposed to get wet n' wild to take that abuse.

Regardless, I'd rather trade just a bit of lifespan for some good fun and good memories, letting it sit has always bothered me. But that doesn't mean you're wrong to keep it safe and tucked away. I had to be real with myself that I probably won't keep this car forever, so I'm gonna enjoy it while life allows.

My reasoning is 2 fold.
1) I plan on keeping it. unless Ford makes a normal dash option for the s650 then I might get the last ice only.
2) the other nuts on the road that can't drive in dry weather, are out with zero skill of driving in traction limited weather. You know the ones, doing 75 with an inch of slush on the road. or heavy rains and the same roads they drive daily puddle up in the same spots, but they go 70 through it and spin out, taking 4 other vehicles with them.

The other day, well 3 weeks ago or so, there was a 9 car pyle up from rubber necking , what was it they were all looking at, a state trooper had pulled behind a car with a flat.
9 drivers, all from the newheart show skit, this is my brother Darrel and my other brother Darrel. lol.

Haha, reason #2 is entirely why my beater comes out on those days. Can't trust anyone but yourself these days :/
