Has anybody purchased the Ford Premium Maintenance Plan? I'm specifically asking about the maintenance and not the extended service/warranty.

It seems like a no-brainer, each service visit averages to about $150 per visit, even if i do the oil changes myself it costs almost $150 in just oil and filter, but the plan also covers a ton of other high dollar items like brakes, shocks, clutch etc which are $2,000+ jobs on their own. Seems like there's got to be a "gotcha" in there somewhere?

It sounds like you're paying for the number of service visits and not necessarily a maintenance schedule? Says it also covers "severe duty" maintenance items if necessary. Does that mean I can bring it in whenever I want until I use up all my service visits? Or does it have to meet a minimum milage/usage? For example, if i buy a 10 year 100k plan with 10k intervals it comes with 10 service visits, so do I have to wait for 10k miles or 1 year before they will cover a service visit? Or for example if I wanted to service it every 1k miles and over 1 year drive it 10k miles I can still use all 10 service visits? Or not until the computer pops up a change oil notification?

If it is based on some sort of minimum milage/time/usage, since the GT350 has a separate track use scheduled maintenance interval in the supplemental manual will this interval be covered under "severe duty"? Oil and diff fluid every 4 track hours/500mi, fresh brake fluid before track use etc.

Also, what about brakes? Do the brakes need to get down to under 3mm before it'll be eligible for replacement? Since you typically want at least 50% brake pad left before track use, can I have the brakes service before it reaches a minimum ford determined threshold level? etc?

I would talk to @Zach@Granger. He can likely get you a great price ($50 over cost) and answer your specific questions. See this thread.

I bought the maintenance plan when I bought my car used b/c I intended to daily drive it. I later realized that it isn't practical for me to just sit in traffic, and I daily-drive a Ford Fusion hybrid. For a GT350/500, if you are going to be putting regular miles on the car or daily-drive, then I think a premium plan makes sense.

For me, I've put 1000 miles on the car in about a year, so I haven't hit the 5k mark for my first maintenance. At the moment, I'm just going to continue to do the maintenance myself b/c I don't want "someone else" touching my car. But at least I have the peace of mind that if anything major goes wrong, I have a plan to fall back on for expensive repairs.

In a nutshell: I don't want to bother going to the dealer for things like filter changes, missing work, etc. But I like having a fall back plan in case anything costly comes up.

Thanks for the mention! for accurate pricing on maintenance plans email [email protected]. Brooke will help out and should be able to answer any and all questions you have. We'll be your best price as well.

No, I have not used this service plan. The less I have to go to a dealer the better.

My premium service plan is doing my own maintenance on a nice sunny day in my garage.

The last time I had a service plan was a decade ago on my Focus ST. Went and had the 15k mile service checkup for oil change, filters, fluids and such - left the dealership and somehow the car horn was disabled. 🙄 From that day on, I learned...

If you are putting a lot of miles on the car, I can see using the dealer to bleed the brakes, flush the transmission, unforeseen trouble codes, etc. But for oil changes, filters, and brake pads/rotors, I'll just do these myself.

Yup completely agree. Back then I was putting a ton of miles and thought the service plan would be worth it.

I was young and dumb back then. Now I am just dumb. 😋

I wouldn't trust a dealership to put 10 quarts in...or to know the correct oil...or torque my oil filter down properly. Nor would I trust them not to joy ride. Also, I am ANAL about someone re-positioning my seat. 🙃🙃🙃
